EndodontistDiagnose and treat various conditions that affect the tooth pulp as well as the nerves and tissue in and around the tooth root. Perform non-surgical root canal treatments, endodontic surgery, and
apicoectomies.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by th department, company and State and Federal agencies.
- Maintain proper, detailed and accurate dental records.
- Travels between clinics to work, as needed.
- Willingness to be on-call, as scheduled, by the Dental Director/Administrative Director (AD). Willingness to assist Clinic Manager/AD in supervising the dental staff and assuring that clinic is compliant with State and Federal guidelines.
- Meet productivity goals, as set by the Arkansas Children's Hospital organization and assist the AD, and work with dental staff to accomplish that goal.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff and administration.
- Perform other tasks, as directed by the Dental Director/AD, as needed to meet clinic or organization goals.
- Supervise Dental Assistants with whom he/she works.
- Understand the organization's commitment to provide high quality patient care. Promote a patient-centered environment.
- Reviewing patients' medical history and discussing their symptoms and concerns.
- Utilizing dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of patients' oral pain and discomfort.
- Formulating suitable treatment plans based on the diagnosed dental condition.
- Performing non-surgical root canal treatment to treat damaged or infected tooth pulp.
- Performing endodontic surgery to clean canals that contain calcium deposits, assist in making accurate diagnoses, and treat damaged root surfaces or surrounding bone.
- Performing apicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infection occurring in the bony area around the end of the tooth.
- Maintaining teeth that have previously undergone root canal procedures.
- Replanting teeth that have been knocked out of patients' mouths.
- Completing a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and progress notes on each patient.
- Examine and diagnose and treat dental conditions to provide optimum care to patients.
- Consult with the patient/parent/guardian and advise them of dental status and required treatment.
- Educate patients regarding oral conditions, provide treatment options and explain to the patient/parent/guardian the risks, benefits and alternatives of each option.
- Treat dental conditions for patients of all ages, and if unable to provide a particular service, to a patient, provide the patient with the appropriate specialty referral. Board certified/qualified Periodontists are exempted from treating adult patients.

Requirements- Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) and
successful completion of a residency training program in endodontics approved by the
Commission on Dental accreditation.
