JOB SUMMARYUnder the general direction of the Emergency Department Director and/or Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Emergency Department Manager is responsible for the coordination and oversight of Emergency Department operations at Curry General Hospital and Curry Medical Center Emergency Care. Provides leadership and support to department staff while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and standards of patient care. Collaborates with the Emergency Department Director in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities and collaborates with providers, leadership, and community partners to support quality patient outcomes and departmental effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSLeadership: Provides leadership, guidance, and support to Emergency Department staff. Collaborates with the ED Director in employee recruitment, onboarding, development, engagement, and performance management. Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, patient safety, and service excellence while ensuring staff maintain required licensure, certifications, competencies, and training requirements.
Department Operations: Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Departments in collaboration with the ED Director, House Supervisors, providers, and department leadership. Supports workflow management, scheduling, payroll review, policy implementation, and operational processes to ensure safe, efficient, and effective patient care delivery.
Patient Care Coordination: Collaborates with providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, equitable, and patient-centered care. Serves as a resource to staff regarding patient care concerns, operational issues, and compliance with organizational standards.
Quality, Compliance, and Performance Improvement: Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities and monitors departmental quality, safety, and performance indicators. Supports regulatory compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies, including HIPAA and EMTALA requirements. Assists with survey readiness, audits, staff education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
Financial Management: Collaborates with the ED Director in the development, monitoring, and management of departmental budgets. Promotes the efficient use of staffing, supplies, equipment, and other departmental resources while maintaining quality patient care and operational effectiveness.
Emergency Preparedness and Community Collaboration: Participates in emergency preparedness planning, training, and response activities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with healthcare partners, emergency response agencies, and community organizations to support patient care, department operations, and organizational readiness. Represents the Emergency Department on committees, workgroups, and organizational initiatives as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation & Experience - Must have a current Unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse Licensure as required. BSN to be acquired after two years if not already current.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or equivalent to AHA), TNCC from ENA (Emergency Nurse Association), NIHSS, NRP.
- Procedural Sedation and De-escalation training required by CHN at first opportunity to complete. Orientation and core competencies for ED Manager RN must be completed prior to independent RN work in the ED.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Computer skills are required, specifically using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); prior use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documenting in patient records is preferred.
