Responsibilities

  • Hand-mix liquid electrolytes in glove box, following standard procedures to support research and pilot fabrication.
  • Conduct QC measurements on prepared electrolytes and maintain calibration of QC instruments.
  • Assist engineers in failure analysis by disassembling test cells and performing required analysis.
  • Keep a detailed and organized lab notebook of experiments and procedures.
  • Manage inventory of chemicals and lab supplies to ensure timely availability.
  • Conduct regular maintenance on glove box systems and related equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a tidy workspace in line with 5S and LEAN principles.

Full Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Electrolyte Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe preparation, mixing, and quality control of advanced liquid electrolytes used in next-generation Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) battery development. You will work closely with R&D scientists and engineering teams to assist in formulating novel electrolyte mixtures, maintaining glove box systems and QC instrumentation, and supporting post-test cell failure analysis from lab-scale experimentation to pilot cell fabrication.

  • Hand-mix a variety of liquid electrolytes in glove box, following established standard operating procedure (S.O.P.) and ensure electrolytes are prepared timely and properly in support of Lyten's R&D and Pilot cell fabrication efforts.
  • Run QC measurements on liquid electrolytes prepared, and maintain and calibrate QC equipment.
  • Support failure analysis efforts with post-test cell disassembly in glove box, followed by physical, compositional, or electrochemical characterization, as instructed by engineers and scientists.
  • Maintain an accurate and well-organized lab notebook.
  • Manage inventory of chemicals and lab consumables
  • Schedule and run regular maintenance procedures on glove boxes
  • Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5S and LEAN manufacturing principles


Required Qualifications:
• Associate/Bachelor's degree (unrelated field) AND 5+ years of experience in R&D or low volume manufacturing OR 1+ years of experience with significant responsibilities at a high-volume cell manufacturing facility.
• Demonstrated knowledge in Li-S battery and/or Li-ion battery materials, synthesis, testing, and analysis
• Experience in electrochemical analysis/failure analysis/electrolyte development and cell fabrication
• Hands-on experience in electrochemical testing methodologies such as Arbin/Maccor/Bio-Logic testing systems and techniques including EIS, CV, GITT/PITT, etc.
• Strong Knowledge of organic liquids and their interface with a lithium anode, characterization techniques such as GC-MS, FTIR, XPS, SEM, etc
• An aptitude to work as an active team member, learning new things, and a keen eye for improving cell performance
• Self-taught, self-motivated and work as a team in a competitive environment
• Ability to advance multiple projects in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment

• Be able to work in glovebox and dry room environment:
• Be able to lift up to 40 pounds

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between
$34.81 - $52.21
The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
