Full Job Description

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to lead electrical design efforts for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity work. This role works closely with engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and client guidance, with responsibility for the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings. You’ll also work within project budgets, train and mentor others, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system analysis and design efforts, including detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
• Partner with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong working relationships
• Support consulting project execution and lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
• Document design decisions, client instructions, and project progress related to percent complete and fee expended
• Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants
• Perform in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications, and implement IMEG quality control processes
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG
• Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
• Identify potential project problems, seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed, and support projects through bidding and construction administration

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
• Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings.
• Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards.
• Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
• Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
• Strong training and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
