WHY: The purpose of this role is to ensure that vehicle designs are safe, manufacturable, ergonomic, and aligned with plant needs, enabling GM to deliver innovative, high-quality vehicles to our customers.
WHAT: As an Electrical Product Interface Engineer, you will represent manufacturing in Product Development by reviewing vehicle designs and defining assembly methods that meet manufacturing requirements and enable safe, efficient, buildable vehicles
HOW: This role collaborates with Product Engineering and assembly plants to evaluate static and dynamic studies, virtual and virtual-reality builds, ergonomics, and prototypes. It also contributes to design reviews, using plant experience and customer feedback to develop practical, buildable solutions.
Work Arrangement - OnsiteThe successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires up to 30% domestic and international travel.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):• Evaluate product designs and advocate for manufacturing requirements with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Partner with Product Engineering, Global Manufacturing Engineering, Architecture Leads, and assembly plants to align requirements and resolve issues.
• Verify vehicle manufacturing requirements, manage deviations, and escalate issues when needed.
• Lead virtual studies, product reviews, PFMEA activities, and vehicle build events to identify manufacturing and ergonomic concerns.
• Develop build sequences, assembly processes, and tooling requirements that support safe, high-quality, cost-effective vehicle production.
• Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.
• Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):• Experience supporting a program launch with General Assembly or Final Assembly Plants.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering execution, tooling, and General assembly plant operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts and issues clearly to peers with varying levels of English proficiency.
• Strong VIS Mockup skills or the ability to learn software tools quickly.
• Knowledge of Vehicle Systems Manufacturing Engineering processes and GM systems, including MPS, VAA, ECR/EDGE, Auros, FIT, GLP, VDP, PRTS, and LMS.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time, or as required.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.The selected candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis (25-50%) for this role.Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
