Full Job Description
Electrical Integration Engineer
DESE's engineering teams support the development and integration of advanced defense systems that protect our nation. We're seeking a collaborative and driven Electrical Integration Engineer who can bring together technical teams, manage complex electrical interfaces, and help lead integration activities across multiple organizations.
This position is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of technical problem-solving, communication, and coordination. You'll serve as an electrical engineering focal point, working closely with cross-functional teams, industry partners, and government stakeholders to ensure successful system integration.
Core Responsibilities:
• Serve as a primary electrical engineering focal point, coordinating interface and integration activities across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Lead technical discussions, interface working groups, and cross-functional meetings while managing objectives, agendas, action items, and follow-up activities.
• Independently organize assigned tasks, schedules, and technical priorities to support program integration milestones.
• Coordinate electrical integration activities from planning through execution, verification, issue resolution, and closure.
• Support the development, review, and coordination of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) defining electrical interfaces between systems and subsystems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify, evaluate, and resolve electrical interface challenges.
• Support electrical interface testing, bench-level verification, and system integration activities.
• Communicate technical findings, integration risks, and proposed solutions to engineering leadership, industry contractors, and government stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience supporting electrical engineering design, integration, interface development, or system-level engineering activities.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical tasks and collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong professional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to leadership and diverse stakeholders.
• Experience supporting technical meetings, design reviews, or engineering working groups.
• Ability to independently manage priorities, track action items, and drive technical issues toward resolution.
• Working knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering principles, including voltage, current, resistance, impedance, and power distribution.
Highlighted Skills & Experience:
• Technical Leadership: Experience facilitating cross-functional meetings, coordinating technical stakeholders, and driving integration activities to completion.
• Electrical Interface Management: Experience developing, reviewing, updating, or negotiating Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Interface Definition: Familiarity with connector specifications, pin assignments, signal definitions, voltage tolerances, and current limitations.
• Integration & Testing: Experience using test benches, simulated subsystems, or other verification environments to evaluate electrical interfaces prior to full system integration.
• Electrical Design: Understanding of electrical circuits, power supplies, impedance, and general electrical design principles.
• Systems Development: Experience across multiple stages of engineering development, including drawings, simulation, bench units, prototypes, production, and testing.
• Failure & Risk Analysis: Familiarity with abnormal behavior analysis, Sneak Circuit Analysis, Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), or related engineering evaluation techniques.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Experience working with multiple industry contractors, government entities, or large multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
• Defense Systems: Experience with complex aerospace, missile defense, or other mission-critical electrical systems is beneficial.
Why This Role Matters:
Successful defense systems depend on seamless electrical integration across complex hardware and subsystems. In this role, you'll help bridge the gap between engineering disciplines, coordinate critical technical decisions, and ensure electrical interfaces are clearly defined, tested, and ready for system-level integration. Your leadership and communication will be just as valuable as your engineering expertise.
