Full Job Description
Overview
The Electrical Engineer supports NEC's site infrastructure and new construction projects by performing electrical system design, design reviews, and design recovery activities. This position addresses a wide range of technical challenges related to primary power distribution and facility/building electrical systems. The engineer will ensure that all designs meet performance, safety, reliability, and operability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical system designs for existing infrastructure upgrades and new construction projects, with a primary focus on mainline primary power and facility/building electrical systems (480V and below).
  • Conduct design reviews and design recovery efforts to validate system functionality, identify deficiencies, and develop corrective actions.
  • Execute field visits to gather data on existing system configuration and verify as-built conditions.
  • Research technical information using vendor data, internet sources, and engineering reference materials to support system design requirements.
  • Perform discipline-specific calculations and analysis related to electrical loading, short circuit levels, grounding, protection, and system performance.
  • Develop technical specifications, detailed documentation, and drawing packages that communicate system design intent.
  • Evaluate constructability, operability, maintainability, inspection requirements, and system accessibility during all design phases.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure design quality and compliance with NEC standards and applicable codes.
  • Provide on-site evaluations and design recovery for existing electrical systems, including troubleshooting and recommendations for system improvements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited), preferably with an industrial power background.
  • Minimum of five years of direct electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of facility/building electrical systems (480V and below) and primary power distribution.
  • Ability to interpret field conditions, perform technical research, and apply engineering principles to complex system designs.
  • Proficiency in electrical calculations, technical documentation, and design package development.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and subject matter experts.
