Description

The Electrical Engineer II leads and delivers electrical designs for small to medium projects and portions of larger projects, applying strong expertise in power and lighting design, NEC compliance, energy codes, and national standards with minimal oversight. This role serves as a key technical and project leader, collaborating directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams, performing advanced calculations and quality control, developing construction documents and specifications, managing budgets, and, when approved, serving as Engineer of Record on select projects while mentoring less experienced staff.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Engineer has the ability to lead a client/client team (1-5 staff), small to medium projects, or portions of a large project utilizing their experience and education in lighting design, power design, and knowledge of NEC and other national standards; as well as solve most design challenges that arise on a project.
  • Engineer should have a basic understanding of energy codes and how to apply them to power and lighting design with minimal oversight.
  • Engineer can work in an independent manner on several project and/or client types with minimal supervision from a more Senior Engineer or Designer.
  • Engineer should have a good understanding of photometric calculations, lighting design, and be able to independently select lighting systems and controls for projects listed above.
  • Designer can work, in an independent manner, to deliver completed construction documents on most client and/or project type, as well as, provide a high level of service for all phases of design.
  • Engineer can communicate effectively to be seen as highly knowledgeable and/or an expert when discussing design challenges or projects, both internally and externally.
  • Engineer should be able to apply their knowledge of NEC and other national standards to most project types, with little to no oversight from a more Senior Engineer or Designer. Designer should have thorough understanding of energy codes and how to apply most sections to power and lighting design with minimal oversight.
  • Engineer should have a good understanding of photometric calculations, lighting design, fault current calculations, 1-Line diagrams and be able to select lighting systems and controls on most project and client types.


Job Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Engineer should be proficient in REVIT.
  • Engineer should be able to train employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and technical questions pertaining to electrical design, NEC, or other national standards.
  • Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with Architects and other Engineers to develop construction documents based on a clients' requirements, including most project management and construction administration functions.
  • Engineer will be able to perform a high level of quality control of their projects and others, for final review by Engineer of Record.
  • Engineer will have direct client contact.
  • Engineer will establish project budgets, with the approval of Electrical Team lead, and work with Team lead to ensure those projects are financially successful, unless in a strictly technical role for the company.
  • Engineer could serve as Engineer of Record, with approval from Director or Executive, on simple project or roll-out clients.
  • Engineer will be licensed in less than 5 states.
  • Engineer should be able to write specifications for most project types.

Education Requirements: BSEE from an Abet Accredited Engineering Program
