Position OverviewDSI is seeking Electrical Engineers to support hardware engineering activities for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System program in Huntsville, Alabama.
The successful candidate will support electrical and hardware design activities including technical drawings, electrical/power systems, network communication systems, cable harness design, electrical load analysis, component design, and engineering trade studies. Candidates should have recent professional experience using CAD/design tools and applying electrical engineering standards and procedures in a complex engineering environment.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain electrical and hardware technical drawings.
- Support electrical and power system design.
- Support network communication system design.
- Develop cable harness fabrication designs.
- Perform electrical load analyses.
- Perform electrical component design and selection activities.
- Apply applicable electrical engineering standards, processes, and technical procedures.
- Conduct engineering impact assessments and technical trade studies.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation and interface documentation.
- Work with systems, software, mechanical, test, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines.
- Support product lifecycle and material/resource planning activities using engineering PLM and MRP systems.
- Communicate technical data and engineering results clearly and concisely.
- Support program activities in a full-time on-site, secure/closed-area environment.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with at least 2 years of related experience; Master's degree with 0 years of related experience; or PhD with 0 years of related experience.
- At least 2 years of recent professional experience using a CAD/design package to develop technical drawings. Applicable tools may include:
- Visio
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- CREO
- Siemens Capital Suites Logic/Harness
- Siemens NX
- Experience in at least two of the following:
- Electrical/power system design
- Network communication system design
- Cable harness fabrication design
- Electrical load analysis
- Understanding and application of electrical engineering technical standards and procedures.
- Electrical component design experience.
- Experience performing engineering impact assessments and/or trade studies.
- Experience with engineering Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Teamcenter.
- Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems such as SAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate technical data clearly and concisely.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Ability to work full-time in an on-site/closed-area environment.
- Current, active, in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application and required to start.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs.
- Familiarity with MDA core standards including:
- MDA-QS-001-MAP
- MDA-QS-003-PMAP
- MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS / ETR Process
- Familiarity with applicable military, electrical, networking, and security standards, including:
- MIL-STD-1901A
- MIL-STD-882
- MIL-STD-461
- MIL-STD-464
- IEEE 802.3u
- IEEE 802.3ab
- TEMPEST 01-13
- National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) domain experience.
- Experience with GMD Launch Support Systems hardware.
- Experience modeling system architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Visio, or comparable architecture modeling tools.
- Experience developing or maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Requirement Specifications (IRSs), and Interface Description Documents (IDDs).
