Job Overview & ResponsibilitiesAs an Electrical Engineer in the Engineering and Infrastructure Facility Maintenance department, you will:
Support and maintain ground electrical and power systems across all ULA launch sites.
- Lead the design, maintenance, and daily operations of facility electrical, power, and electromechanical systems.
- Coordinate electrical support for launch operations, including scheduling, system readiness, and console support during testing and major events.
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors on the design, operation, and upkeep of new and existing electromechanical systems, including high-voltage infrastructure.
- Plan and execute facility electrical validations, pre-launch checkouts, and ensure operational readiness.
- Develop and update test procedures and maintenance documentation for primary and backup power systems (12kV, 480VAC, 120VAC, 24V control, etc.).
- Operate and maintain mobile electrical systems and hazardous commodity detection and monitoring systems.
- Design, operate, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or similar firmware-based control systems.
- Support development of mission-specific electrical capabilities for launch facilities.
Required EducationBachelor
Required Years of ExperienceMinimum of 4 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited college or university.
- Basic working knowledge of:
- Circuit theory.
- Electrical design principles.
- AC/DC voltage systems.
- Proficient in electrical design software such as AutoCAD and/or EPLAN.
- Practical knowledge and application of NEC and NFPA 70/72 electrical codes and standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including customers and subcontractors.
- Ability to support field operations and maintenance activities in launch pad and processing environments, including certification or willingness to obtain certification for:
- Working at heights.
- Confined space entry.
- Areas with hazardous rocket propellants and high-pressure gases.
- Willingness and ability to travel to other ULA launch facilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with experience in electrical and/or power engineering.
- Experience working with large, complex electromechanical systems in industrial or process-focused environments.
- Knowledge in ATS, UPS, Switchgear, Backup Generator, Transformers Disconnects, Emergency lighting, MCC's 3 phase motors.
