About the Job:The Electrical & Controls Supervisor has responsibility and accountability for supervising the daily execution of electrical & maintenance activities in their area of responsibility. This role requires strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a sound background in the technical proficiencies required for the maintainability of the fixed plants, electrical infrastructure and equipment. They will be committed to safety as their top priority. The supervisor assigns and coordinates electrical activities with work crews, provides daily safety meetings, leadership, and guidance to carry out planned Preventive and Predictive Electrical tasks.
The Electrical & Controls Supervisor's focus is on safety, fixed plant, electrical infrastructure, equipment availability/reliability, electrical technicians' productivity and costs. The Electrical and Controls Supervisor directs daily execution of work processes and provides leadership to the team of electrical technicians.
Responsibilities: The Electrical and Controls Supervisor is committed to safety as the top priority and to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal/State Regulations, safety policies and standards, including the National Electrical Code. The Electrical and Controls Supervisor is the direct link with the electrical technicians who physically perform the work as planned, scheduled and break-in work. The Supervisor must be proactive at all times.
The role is responsible and accountable for supervising daily maintenance tasks of planned, scheduled, and non-routine maintenance functions in their area of responsibility by:
- Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable Safety Standards.
- Ensuring crew members receive Safety Training for new equipment, tools, and processes.
- Developing and delivering MSHA electrical training presentations for the mine site.
- Being knowledgeable and applying Human Resource policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Identify the required training for selected electrical technician's skills.
- Providing leadership, motivation, and accountability to the technicians.
- Serving as a technical resource and mentor to electrical technicians, including hands-on troubleshooting and support when needed.
- Supervising electrical contractors and coordinating contractor work to meet site safety and quality requirements.
- Communicating effectively with Managers, Superintendents, peers, direct reports, operations, and other work groups.
- Soliciting input from work group members and that accurate data is captured.
- Interfacing with planner to assist in planning and scheduling of maintenance work.
- Assisting and coordinating with the planner, ordering components, parts and materials.
- Verify and report labor availability for planning/scheduling.
- Participating in planning/scheduling, cost review, and budget meetings.
- Supervising electrical projects, including development of AFEs, work execution plans, project charters, scopes, schedules, and procurement.
- Communicating Non-Scheduled Work Orders to the planner with marked-up work order(s) including findings, recommendations, and closing comments.
- Ensuring compliance to planned and scheduled work orders.
- Coordinating opening/closing work orders with the planner in the CMMS System.
- Review/approve/follow up on findings to Area Supervisor/Planners as a result of PM Inspections.
- Daily Work Order and previous day's work feedback to the planner with closing comments.
- Ensuring technicians Work Order-feedback includes findings and task start/finish times.
- Efficient and effective fixed and equipment PM/PdM's and validation of service worksheets.
- Assigning priority work to the Technicians on planning, work order follows up and assist with parts-coordination with team members and Planner.
- Monitoring and controlling overtime, absenteeism, and productivity.
- Monitoring and controlling maintenance material and supply costs (e.g. daily consumables, non-routine supplies, review "best buy/best quality" with planners, procurement and "as applicable" vendors).
- Adequately supervising quality of work, timeliness, and effective use of Technician resources.
- Ensure that payroll is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Troubleshoot equipment and provide effective response to equipment emergency needs.
- Designing, programming, documenting, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems, including electrical drawings, PLCs, HMIs, process control systems, and associated control hardware and software.
- Developing and maintaining control systems, including Rockwell automation platforms such as LogixDesigner 5000, FactoryTalk SE/ME, and Historian.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to technicians in troubleshooting electrical, automation, and instrumentation systems, including motor controls, VFDs, flow meters, auto valves, RTDs, transducers, and PID control loops.
- Providing technical support for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of mine electrical and control systems ranging from 24 volts through 4,160 volts.
- Assist in development of yearly departmental budgets, quarterly forecasts and monthly plans.
- Personnel administration functions, documentation, and other activities as required.

Education & Experience- High School Diploma or GED
- Two-year associate degree in industrial electronics, electrical technology, automation instrumentation, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to motivate and mentor crew members.
- Competency in the use of computers and Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Technical Skills- Logical problem solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical, automation, instrumentation, VFDs, PLCs, and process control fundamentals.
- Good estimating, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Familiarity of predictive and preventative principles and tools.
