Mission
Partner with site leadership and employees to ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability requirements while supporting the development of a Zero Harm culture. Lead the implementation of EHS and Sustainability programs, initiatives and projects that improve safety performance, environmental stewardship, resource efficiency and achievement of corporate sustainability objectives.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, the position will:
Health & Safety Leadership
• Promote and strengthen the site Zero Harm and Compliance culture through employee engagement and visible leadership.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of site EHS programs, standards and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal and corporate EHS requirements.
• Conduct routine Safety Gemba Walks to identify hazards, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor and track key EHS performance indicators including Near Miss reporting, corrective actions, safety observations and machine guarding compliance.
• Participate in daily production and operational meetings to support safe operations.
• Maintain EHS visual management systems, communications boards and safety awareness programs.
• Support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to equipment modifications, capital projects, new processes and chemical evaluations.
• Coordinate incident investigations and support root cause analysis activities to ensure effective corrective actions.
• Participate in internal and corporate EHS audits and support closure of findings.
• Support contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with site requirements.
• Coordinate site EHS training activities and training compliance tracking.
• Support emergency preparedness and emergency response programs.
Sustainability Leadership
• Lead site sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate environmental and ESG objectives.
• Support the development and execution of annual sustainability improvement plans.
• Track and report sustainability metrics including:
o Energy consumption
o Water usage
o Waste generation
o Recycling performance
o Greenhouse gas emissions
• Identify opportunities to reduce environmental footprint and improve resource efficiency.
• Lead waste reduction, recycling and landfill diversion projects.
• Support implementation of energy-saving and water conservation initiatives.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Procurement teams to identify and execute sustainability improvement opportunities.
• Support environmental compliance programs including waste management, air emissions, wastewater and chemical management.
• Collect, validate and maintain environmental and sustainability data required for corporate reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of sustainability reports, scorecards and KPI dashboards.
• Promote employee awareness and participation in sustainability initiatives and environmental stewardship programs.
• Support environmental permitting, inspections and regulatory reporting activities.
• Identify and share sustainability best practices across the site.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry or related technical discipline preferred.
• HS Diploma required.
Experience
• 3 to 5 years of experience in EHS, Environmental or Sustainability roles within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting safety programs and regulatory compliance.
• Experience participating in continuous improvement and sustainability projects is preferred.
Technical Knowledge
• Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Understanding of Environmental Management Systems
• Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Systems
• Familiarity with sustainability principles, waste reduction, recycling and resource conservation.
• Experience with EHS data management and KPI reporting.
