JOB SUMMARY

The HSE Manager is responsible for the overall management of the companies Health and Safety as it pertains to company specific protocols, local and state regulations, as well as adhering to the Safran and Global regulations and procedures as applicable. The HSE manager will lead the HSE team to ensure that the Health and Safety of our employees is the core to all process and procedures that are conducted at CRT. Proper alignment with HR, Engineering, Quality, Leadership, Maintenance, and Supply Chain is required.

The role serves as the primary resource for environmental, health, safety, and security matters and helps ensure regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage the HSE department while collaborating with internal departments, management and external experts to ensure safety goals and objectives are clearly defined within the organization. Includes the establishment of any safety goals and/or responsibilities required to ensure a safe work environment.
  2. Lead the HSE Department to promote, educate, and engage all employees with safety initiatives to help identify potential hazards and/or safety opportunities as well as providing reporting tools to ensure visibility, tracking and actions taken. Empower the ownership of these initiatives at department and senior department levels.
  3. Ensure regulatory compliance adherence to local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations, acting as the primary contact for regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DHS) and staying informed on changing laws.
  4. Analyze HSE performance metrics, audit results, and incident trends to identify improvement opportunities and support organizational decision-making that are department and shift specific.
  5. Manage a preventative and corrective action system with established of OTD for all HSE related items.
  6. Organize and create and deliver safety and security company communications plan (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually).
  7. Plan, develop, deliver, and coordinate HSE training programs to ensure employees understand regulatory requirements, safe work practices, and emergency procedures. Including the training frequency of such programs.
  8. Develop, maintain, and administer required safety programs, including but not limited to respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, emergency action planning, lockout/tagout, and personal protective equipment programs.
  9. Develop, monitor and implement an internal audit structure, risk and industrial assessments, exposure monitoring and compliance evaluations through various methods to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and track progress and effectiveness of implemented controls.
  10. Structure an annual continuous improvement plan for environmental, health, safety, and security programs for employees based on departmental feedback and safety results.
  11. Facilitate investigations of employee injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and safety concerns to identify root causes as well as implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  12. Assist with overseeing the hazardous waste management activities by partnering with the Maintenance, Lab, and WWT technicians.
  13. Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response programs, conduct drills and exercises, and coordinate response activities with internal and external emergency resources.
  14. Prepare, maintain, and submit required environmental, health, and safety reports, permits, records, and regulatory filings in a timely and accurate manner.
  15. Serve as the primary company representative during HSE-related regulatory inspections, audits, investigations, and agency interactions. Support customer, quality system, and regulatory audits by providing documentation, records, and subject matter expertise related to environmental, health, and safety compliance. Refer and utilize internal tracking systems.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, regulatory, and business information while exercising sound professional judgment in all HSE-related matters.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety (EHS), Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in environmental, health, and safety compliance within a manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, or similarly regulated environment.
  3. Strong leadership, problem solving, presenting, and communication skills.
  4. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DHS, and applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, safety, and security regulations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations, develop procedures, maintain records, and communicate technical information effectively through written and verbal communication.
  6. Ability to adjust schedule to meet the demands of all shifts within the company.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or completion of OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training preferred.
  2. Experience developing, implementing, auditing, and improving EHS programs, policies, and procedures within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  3. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  4. Ability to effectively interact with employees, management, contractors, regulators, and external service providers while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  3. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
  4. Occasionally required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 10 lbs.
