Job DescriptionYour Role at KIKThe Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager leads site EHS compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement for the Lake Charles operation. The role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Human Resources, and site leadership to protect people and the environment; maintain regulatory compliance; strengthen emergency preparedness; and improve EHS performance.
What You'll Do- Serve as the site EHS subject-matter expert and represent EHS on the site Leadership Team, providing practical, site-specific technical guidance.
- Establish, maintain, and report site EHS objectives, targets, leading indicators, and corrective-action performance; develop and execute tactical and strategic improvement plans.
- Lead compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety requirements, company policies, permits, reporting obligations, and agency inspections.
- Manage environmental programs, including hazardous waste, air emissions, industrial wastewater, potable water, stormwater, chemical inventory, spill prevention, and required records and reports, as applicable to the site.
- Lead or coordinate process-safety activities for covered operations, including PSM and RMP compliance, process hazard analysis follow-up, management of change, pre-startup safety review participation, compliance audits, and action-item closure.
- Manage the site EHS training program, including new-hire, job-specific, contractor, emergency-response, hazardous-material handling, and refresher training.
- Lead incident and injury reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, recordkeeping, corrective-action assignment, verification, and trend analysis.
- Oversee operational safety programs, including contractor safety, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, permit-to-work, industrial hygiene, and field safety observations.
- Lead the site EHS Committee and site EHS communications, building engagement and accountability across departments.
- Maintain emergency preparedness through drills, response plans, incident-command coordination, spill or release response, and coordination with external agencies and mutual-aid partners. Participate in site emergency response and/or serve as the designated primary escalation contact.
- Support management of workers' compensation claims and the site return-to-work program in partnership with Human Resources and site leadership.
- Supervise, coach, and develop EHS personnel, contractors, and vendors as assigned; manage relevant EHS resources and service providers.
- Lead site security programs, including access control, visitor and contractor management, perimeter protection, incident investigation, security-vendor oversight, and coordination with corporate security and local emergency-response agencies.
What You'll Bring- Five or more years of progressively responsible EHS experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, consumer-products chemical, or other process-manufacturing operations.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
- Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local EHS regulations and demonstrated ability to manage compliance programs and regulatory interactions.
- Demonstrated experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) requirements for covered processes, where applicable to the site.
- Experience with industrial wastewater and potable-water systems, hazardous-waste management, and environmental permitting or reporting preferred.
- Experience supervising employees or leading cross-functional teams preferred
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, or comparable EHS certification preferred.
- Ability to collaborate across functions, build trust, influence change, prioritize work based on risk and business impact, and take projects from proposal through implementation.
- Possess or be able to obtain within one year and maintain Louisiana Class I operator certifications in Water Production, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, Wastewater Collection, and Water Treatment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, coaching, and continuous-improvement skills.
- 24/7 Emergency Response: Serve as lead for Emergency Response Team and the point of contact for all EHS emergencies, ensuring rapid response and resolution to incidents at any time.
