This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking team of EHS Professionals, you will provide subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS manufacturing and prototyping. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of safety and health compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at Headquarters in Kent, WA and satellite locations including, but not limited to: OSHA, PSM, NFPA, and ANSI requirements. You will ensure environmental compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including but not limited to: NEPA, RCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, and NPDES. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Implements EHS programs for the evaluation and control of potential
hazards including, but not limited to: industrial hygiene; fall protection;
confined space; lock out tag out; process safety management; hazard
assessments; hearing conservation and noise hazards; heat stress; and
environmental management
- Performs a wide range of EHS consultation services, which includes
planning, managing, and reporting the results of assessments
- Provides subject matter expertise in design and test reviews
- Provides support to incidents, including spills, injuries, hazardous
operations, launches, hurricanes, and other emergencies
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal safety, health, and
environmental regulations at Headquarters in Kent, WA and all satellite
facilities
- Prepares and submits reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as
required
- Continually updates and ensures compliance with Blue Origin processes and
procedures
- Indoctrinates new employees on our EHS Program
- Assists in waste disposal activities including hazardous waste,
non-hazardous waste, universal waste, and recycling materials
- Contributes to the injury/illness and near miss reporting process
- Develops, updates, and delivers EHS training
- Serves as site focal point for safety and environmental issues and
concerns
- Evaluates operations for continuous process improvement and
implementation of preventive action measures
- Supports development of job hazard analyses and risk assessments
- Provides subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources
related to EHS
- Provides EHS related input for building design and operations
- Performs periodic audits of Safety Programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years total work in EHS
- 5+ years work experience in an operational aerospace environment,
manufacturing, or chemical industry
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental
science, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety
- Knowledge and ability to use industrial hygiene tools and monitors
- Expertise in writing technical reports
- Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and State of Washington regulations
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods
- Knowledge of incident/accident reporting practices, investigations, root
cause/corrective action processes
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail, technical writing, with
an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information
- Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds, physically climb
multiple flights of stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in
adverse weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years total work in EHS
- 7+ years work experience in an operational aerospace environment,
manufacturing, or chemical industry
- Expertise in Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $134,434.00 - $188,207.25
