WBG Transport and Logistics Department (KIT):
The maritime sector is enabler and catalyst for economic growth, industrial transformation, and job creation on land and at sea. Today, the global maritime transport sector is undergoing a significant technological and governance transformation to respond to increasingly volatile supply chains, technological change, and the demand for clean and resilient operations. Most often, shipping and ports also represent start and/or end points of economic transport and trade corridors, a key focus of the World Bank Group.
The WBG maintains an expanding portfolio in maritime transport and ports, including statistical data sets, an annual report on port performance, and growing investments in ports, inland waterways, and ships.
Data and data analysis are key to generating and monitoring the performance of ports and supply chains. The World Bank counts on a wide range of data sources that allow it to generate key performance indicators and insights that are relevant for investors and policy makers. The World Bank requires expertise to work with large data sets and analytical tools, to ensure that the right insights and recommendations are produced based on these data sources and tools, and to allow the Knowledge Bank to develop advisory and scalable financing solutions for public sector client, port, and shipping companies.
Please note this position is financed by a Trust Fund, and renewal is contingent upon availability of funding, in addition to other factors, including but not limited to business needs, staff performance and skills fit.
