Description
The S&I WB team, currently comprising six staff members, is tasked with integrating gender in WBG operations through the Gender Tag process and extracting knowledge from operations for replication, with an overarching goal of achieving results, at scale across all regions and sectors.
In addition to the gender tag, the WB S&I team's work program covers other key workstreams, in close cooperation with the Gender Department IFC S&I Team and the P&R Team. These include:
• Upstream operational support (gender tag upstream support, thematic workshops)
• Thematic support (expertise-based)
• Monitoring and Reporting (including managing the gender portal, contributing to Gender Strategy RF reporting, and contributing to Board updates)
• Capacity building (corporate and gender network training, gender tag certification, etc.)
• Country engagement (e.g. support in reviewing selected CPFs, fast-track countries engagement, contribution to CPF methodology note)
The WB S&I team is supported by 6 STCs, most expected to be discontinued (some may transition to independent consultants). This will have a significant impact on the team's work. Giacomo has been an STC with the S&I Team since the start of FY26, bringing extensive experience from Regional Gender Coordination units in MENAAP and LAC, a strong command of Bank operations, systems, and Gender Portal. • Support ad-hoc requests for gender tag data, good practice examples, etc.
• Monitor the gender solutions account and provide just-in-time support to task teams by reviewing, allocating, and responding to requests. Monitor gendersolutions account trends to inform improvements in the S&I team's upstream support to task teams.
3. Capacity Building
• Contribute to training content development and support the preparation and delivery of training materials, including for the gender network, regional and corporate trainings, and operational workshops. This role will also include supporting the delivery and management of the Gender Tag certification program, including the nomination process and test delivery.
