DSHS ESH - Registered Nurse 3 (Nurse Supervisor)Join our team as a Registered Nurse 3 (Nurse Supervisor) at Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake, Washington, where you'll have the opportunity to lead a dedicated nursing team while making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals receiving behavioral health treatment.
In this leadership role, you'll provide supervision, guidance, and clinical oversight to nursing staff delivering direct patient care on an assigned ward. We're looking for a compassionate leader with sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive, recovery-oriented environment that empowers patients, instills hope, and promotes independence.

We are hiring for two evening shift positions, Mon through Friday and Sunday through Thursday. Additionally, employees may be available to receive $2.50/hour Shift Differential pay, $1.50/hour Shift Premium pay, $4.00/hour Weekend Premium pay, and a 5% 24/7 Facility pay.
Some of what you'll do:
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to nursing staff delivering patient care on an assigned ward or shift.
  • Plan, organize, assign, and evaluate nursing services while coaching, mentoring, and developing staff performance.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to plan, coordinate, and evaluate high-quality patient care.
  • Assess patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, document significant clinical changes, and communicate critical information to providers and leadership.
  • Lead nursing staff during medical and psychiatric emergencies while utilizing therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques.
  • Complete staff evaluations, develop corrective action plans when needed, and provide education to nursing staff and patients.
  • Serve as House Supervisor when assigned and assist with patient transportation, off-ward activities, and other operational responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric nursing practices, behavioral health treatment, and recovery-oriented care principles.
  • Experience using crisis intervention and therapeutic de-escalation techniques in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of hospital, state, and federal regulations, policies, and standards governing patient care.
  • Ability to lead, coach, mentor, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, staff, leadership, and the public.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while remaining calm and professional in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency using computers and common healthcare equipment while following infection control and universal precaution practices.
