The .NET Software Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications across the organization's .NET technology stack, our systems to customer platforms, mapping and transforming data between formats, and troubleshooting data flow issues across systems. Works with external vendors and AIT's internal team. This role involves real hands-on work learning, stabilizing, and extending existing systems rather than starting from a blank slate. Design, build, and maintain applications across our .NET technology stack, supporting a mix of internal logistics/operations systems and customer-facing platforms, working closely with senior engineers, product managers, and QA in an Agile environment. This role is introduced to the AI-assisted development, and will eventually use these tools day to day basis.
ResponsibilitiesEducation• High School or equivalent 6 years of relevant software development experience (required) or• Some College/Associate's Degree with 4 years of relevant experience in software development () or• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. (preferred) Experience• work experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) ; work experience with C# and the .NET framework (.NET 6/8) and work experience building web applications with ASP.NET Core (required) • work experience with Blazor (Server or WebAssembly) for building interactive UI components (preferred) • experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) in a professional setting (preferred) • experience w Databricks or other data engineering/analytics platforms (preferred) • Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain software environments (preferred) • Demonstrated track record of using AI coding assistants to meaningfully speed up delivery, backed by examples (preferred) • Understanding of Clean Architecture or similar layered/domain-driven design patterns (preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Must have strong knowledge of C#, .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, Entity Framework, and modern software development practices. Medium• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, client integrations, data mapping, transformation, and inbound/outbound data exchanges across systems. Medium• Proficiency with SQL Server, including writing and optimizing queries, stored procedures, and views and troubleshooting database performance. Medium• Ability to analyze complex technical issues, trace data flows, identify root causes, and resolve application, integration, and production issues. Medium• Ability to understand, maintain, stabilize, and enhance existing or unfamiliar codebases, including applications transitioned from external vendors. Medium• Ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools for code generation, testing, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and development efficiency. Medium• Knowledge of unit and integration testing, code review practices, secure coding principles, application security, and software quality standards. Medium• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. Medium• Experience using tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage development work, technical documentation, and design decisions. Medium• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, QA, operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
