Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at UToledo Health and The University of Toledo College of Medicine & Life Sciences is seeking an experienced, visionary Pediatric Division Chief to provide clinical and administrative leadership for a growing pediatric division. This physician leader will maintain an active outpatient clinical practice across two pediatric clinic locations while overseeing a team of up to 10 Pediatricians dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Position Highlights:

  • Provide outpatient pediatric care at two clinic locations.
  • Lead and supervise a team of up to 10 Pediatricians and advanced practice providers.
  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with hospital, medical staff, and administrative leadership to advance strategic goals.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and exceptional patient experience.
  • Participate in clinical program development and service line growth initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership

  • Maintain an active outpatient pediatric practice.
  • Serve as a clinical role model and resource for physicians and staff.
  • Champion evidence-based care and quality outcomes.

Administrative Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of division operations.
  • Monitor clinical productivity, access, patient satisfaction, and quality metrics.
  • Assist with budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
  • Address operational challenges and implement process improvements.

Team Development

  • Mentor and support pediatric providers.
  • Conduct performance reviews and professional development discussions.
  • Foster collaboration among providers, nursing, and support staff.
  • Recruit and retain high-performing physicians.

Qualifications:

Required

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Pediatrics.
  • Eligible for or currently holding unrestricted state medical licensure.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical pediatric experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a medical practice, division, department, or service line.

Preferred

  • Previous experience leading physicians or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with quality improvement, practice operations, and physician engagement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and change-management skills.
