Full Job Description
Overview

Supervise the electric utility distribution design efforts of CPS Energy CD&D Teams and provide support for Project Managers, Supervisors, Managers, and others as appropriate. Responsible for teaming with and/or managing the efforts of a small internal teams of technicians, designers, and/or analysts involved in CPS Energy Distribution Engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and schedule work as required to meet client requirements, assuring the highest quality and most efficient use of resources.
  • Reports directly to the Supervisor of the CPS Energy CD&D Team and/or Operations Manager.
  • Take a lead role in the continuing growth and development of the CPS Energy CD&D Engineering & Design teams by assisting with hiring employees, marketing services, and providing outstanding service to clients - Detailed and organized Communication and Coordination skills are critical
  • Responsible for complete and accurate record keeping of all work performed by their CD&D Engineering & Design teams.
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control on all work performed by their CD&D Engineering & Design teams.
  • Assist in the preparation of Project Cost Estimates/Bids.
  • With the assistance of Distribution Supervisors and Managers, administer company policies, salary administration, training, safety (both company and client specific), employee development, and performance evaluations for the employees in their respective CD&D Engineering & Design teams.
  • Approve time sheets and expenses for direct reports.
  • Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by the project guidelines (and/or Management) and continuously monitor employee utilization.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Director as needed.

Functions May Also include:
  • Managing back-office engineering personnel to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively track and manage reports on progress for multiple projects and various clients
  • Assist in the development of training of back-office support for employees.
  • Develop a working knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and various electric utility construction standards.
  • Perform function of a project lead on projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience with CPS Energy CD&D (Customer Design & Delivery) 1-Phase & 3-Phase Overhead Electric, 1-Phase URD, 3-Phase Underground Electric, and Gas Distribution Designs preferred. Utilization of CPS Energy applications, GIS, MicroStation, SAP, and ARM, for Small Commercial, Large Commercial, Multi-Family, Subdivision Development within the CPS Energy CD&D business units.
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Must have 2+ years' experience as a Distribution Engineer, Designer, Coordinator, or Analyst and familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and the CPS Energy Design & Construction Standards.
  • Education: Must have a high school diploma (associate or bachelor's degree in engineering or similar discipline is preferred).
  • Valid Driver's license is required.
  • Travel is primarily regional to the utility client(s) territory during the business day, although overnight travel is possible. Must be able to travel to support work as necessary.
  • TRC Management may consider other education and work experience to be acceptable for appointment to this position.
  • Additional client specific requirements may apply.
  • Demonstrates supervisory and leadership skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively market Distribution Engineering services outside the company.
  • Expected to provide excellent client service, be innovative, and maintain a high level of integrity.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of electric distribution construction standards and practices
  • Able to navigate and fully understand utility and design plans.
  • Must have excellent PC skills with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, outside agencies, their teams, and the public.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $30.11 - USD $50.00 /Hr.
