Job Description:
The Director of Pillar Practices is responsible for the success of Hill Physicians’ pillar practices in ensuring member retention and growth for HPMG. The Director has operational and financial accountability for the owned primary care clinic, Hill Health, including its P&L, staffing, physician relationships, and achievement of strategic and performance goals. The Director is also responsible for delivering on the strategy to support independent Pillar Practices across our service area. They will ensure that we execute on the business cases outlined in each Pillar Practice agreement, including overseeing provider recruitment, practice renovations, marketing initiatives, and practice succession planning. The Director will also oversee provider recruitment, including management of the recruiting liaison and external recruiting vendors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hill Health
Own Hill Health’s financial performance and full P&L, including annual budgeting, forecasting, revenue optimization, expense management, capital planning, and corrective action when performance deviates from plan.
Set the practice’s operating strategy, priorities, and performance expectations in partnership with medical leadership; translate enterprise objectives into an actionable business plan.
Provide concise, decision-oriented reporting and recommendations to executive leadership and Board of Directors regarding performance, risks, investment needs, and strategic opportunities.
Directly manage and hold the Practice Manager accountable for day-to-day execution, staffing, workflows, service standards, regulatory compliance, and achievement of established goals.
Establish staffing models and workforce plans aligned with patient demand, provider capacity, quality standards, and financial targets; approve staffing changes and address material performance or resource gaps.
Build and maintain effective relationships with physicians and advanced practice providers; address operational concerns, align providers around practice priorities, and support recruitment, retention, engagement, and productivity.
Use independent judgment and data analysis to make timely business decisions
Leverage Epic reporting and analytics to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities; sponsor and oversee initiatives related to templates, scheduling, referral workflows, panel management, documentation, revenue cycle, and patient access.
Partner with revenue cycle, finance, contracting, IT/Epic, quality, compliance, marketing, and physician network teams to resolve systemic issues and advance practice objectives.
Independent Pillar Practices
Lead Hill Physicians’ portfolio of investments in independent Pillar Practices, ensuring Hill and participating practices fulfill their respective commitments and that each investment produces measurable practice growth, membership growth, and strategic value for Hill.
Develop practice-specific growth plans with measurable targets for membership, patient panels, provider capacity, access, retention, and financial sustainability.
Coordinate internal teams and external partners to ensure Hill delivers its commitments on schedule, including recruitment, marketing, SEO, renovations, analytics, and HR solutions
Hold practice owners and leaders accountable for completing agreed-upon actions, operational changes, and investments required to achieve the intended outcomes.
Monitor performance against business cases and investment plans. Ensure Pillar Practice strategies produce measurable growth for both the participating practices and Hill Physicians, including growth in physicians, patient panels, attributed membership, and market presence.
Build trusted relationships with independent physicians while maintaining appropriate accountability for performance and fulfillment of contractual or strategic commitments.
Provide executive leadership with a portfolio-level view of investment performance, expected returns, risks, and recommendations to continue, modify, expand, or discontinue initiatives.

Physician Recruiting
Lead and execute the physician recruiting strategy in alignment with Pillar Practice growth, succession-planning, and market priorities; establish hiring targets, timelines, and performance measures.
Directly manage the Recruiting Liaison and ensure effective coordination, oversight, and accountability of external recruiting firms, including vendor selection, work plans, service levels, candidate pipelines, and issue resolution.
Evaluate vendor performance and recruiting outcomes using data such as candidate quality, time to fill, placement success, retention, cost per hire, and progress against priority-market needs; adjust resources and strategy as needed.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in physician practice operations and strategic planning.
Proven ability to manage P&L and execute growth strategies in a clinical setting
Strong understanding of marketing and growth planning.
Excellent relationship-building skills with physicians and executives
Excellent communication skills for executive-level audience
Ability to work in a matrixed environment, collaborating with leaders and stakeholders across the organization
Ability to define report requirements and perform necessary analysis independently, to draw conclusions and make business decisions
Experience with Epic workflows and reporting preferred.
Additional Information:
Salary: $137,000 - $182,000 Annual
