Full Job Description
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Director of Operational Excellence collaborates with all departments to support the business to improve and simplify existing processes. This role delivers sustainable operational improvements in safety, quality, costs, performance and waste by facilitating and managing continuous improvement projects and teams. Additionally, the role ensures new processes contain and use continuous improvement methodologies for sustainable results. Director of Operational Excellence engages functional leaders, and teams across all manufacturing operations and other departments in creating and sustaining a CI culture.

Director of Operational Excellence will support the management of site-based CI and Industrial Engineering resources. Additionally, they will provide support and resources, as necessary, to support the growth of the Continuous Improvement culture at the site while importing and exporting ideas from the global Operational Excellence community.

This is a full-time and permanent position that is based out of our Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke. Candidates are required to be on-site 5 days a week.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
  • SPOC (single point of contact) responsible for partnering with key members of Plant leadership team to identify, prioritize, plan, execute, and monitor the Company's Operating Model "Prestige Performance System (PPS) ensuring application of sound project management principles and consistency with company strategy and goals.
  • Responsible for facilitating the development and governance of the Factory Operational Master Plan (OMP)
  • As the subject matter expert in the use of the CI tools with a comprehensive knowledge of the philosophy, utilize PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) methodologies to successfully lead and manage completion of continuous improvement projects within a given timeframe to meet the manufacturing goals in cost, quality, delivery, reliability, safety, and waste.
  • Lead manufacturing, engineering, facilities, warehouse operations, production planning, and quality teams in CI disciplines and processes to accomplish assigned stated CI projects, cost reduction and process improvements.
  • Support Commercialization efforts through personal engagement to optimize new and changed products and technologies.
  • Support Value Realization and Optimization (VR & O') efforts by providing resources and leading site efforts for key corporate VR & O initiatives.
  • Identify CI needs of manufacturing and develop training plans with relevant departments and regional Operational Excellence Director.
  • Through active participation and shop floor engagement, support proactive performance management and the daily monitoring of KPIs.
  • Support weekly and monthly performance monitoring, analysis and reporting as well as monthly reporting of completed projects.
  • Responsible for building, coaching, training and assessing Manufacturing teams on Operational Excellence toolbox, Green-/Black Belt certification, project management skills and process improvement initiatives with the overarching goal of instilling a permanent CI culture in the organization.
  • Define and implement with relevant departments and regional Operational Excellence Director site specific Operational Excellence training and learning agenda (Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, TPM, 5S, PDCA/SDCA, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, Daily Management)

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • 7+ year hands-on experience in Continuous Improvement in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in TPM Autonomous Maintenance steps 1-3 required.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification or comparable required and Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations management, supply chain management, or relevant education and/or experience
  • Demonstrated successful project management capabilities in a LEAN/CI environment, measured through KPI metrics, results and cultural impact
  • Sound understanding of end-to-end product supply and a keen interest in improving operational efficiencies through analysis
