Responsibilities

Position Purpose: The Director of Test Engineering will oversee test engineering and test technician operations, architecture, and strategy. They will ensure that proper engineering rigor, process, and execution are followed while aligning team direction and innovations with company strategy and targets.

Pay Range: $180,000 - $225,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Boulder, CO (work locations are subject to change based on business need).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Focus on strategic execution, alignment, and goal setting of test engineering team
  • Manages company test engineering, test technicians, and related technical activities; including managing outsourcing of projects with outside resources
  • Manages test architecture development, implementation, and alignment with partnered departments
  • Responsible for design, development, and implementation of new test equipment and procedures; and for the improvement of existing equipment
  • Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical and business reports
  • Provide technical support to engineers and customers
  • Provide guidance for troubleshooting and debugging test failures or investigations
  • Assists chief operating officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.
  • Monitor revenue margins for worker productivity, and develop guidelines for personnel evaluations, staff advancement, and recruitment
  • Works cross-functionally to coordinate activities across departments
  • Attend design and program reviews for new products to ensure their manufacturability at low and high volume.
  • Support management and business development to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and prepares and maintains department budget
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
  • Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
  • Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


Required Qualifications:
  • At least ten years of test engineering or related experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • Master's degree in engineering or business administration is preferred
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated Leadership in Team and People Management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development
  • Experience with spacecraft or space component assembly, integration, and test is preferred
  • Experience with use of test and measurement equipment for testing and troubleshooting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education


Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
