The OpportunityUSC is hiring its first Director of Technology to lead the technology strategy, systems, and infrastructure that power the business as it scales through organic growth and acquisitions. Reporting directly to Chief Financial Officer Kyle Anderson, this hire will own the internal technology environment that supports USC's employees, clients, and the CaaS delivery model, including business systems, IT operations, data, security, and acquisition integration. USC is looking for this hire to own internal IT end-to-end: core systems, vendor relationships, and help desk support, while driving AI adoption to cut costs and save time internally.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Strategy & Planning- Develop and execute a multiyear technology roadmap aligned with USC's annual business plan, growth strategy, and investor priorities
- Own the technology budget in partnership with the CFO, including operating and capital spend, licensing, and total cost of ownership
- Participate in EOS/Traction meetings, quarterly goal-setting, and company-level planning as a member of the extended leadership team
- Report on technology performance, risk, and return on investment to the CFO, the Executive Leadership Team, and equity partners as needed
Business Systems & IT Operations- Own the core business systems that run USC, including NetSuite and Microsoft 365, ensuring successful implementation and measurable ROI
- Drive system adoption, process automation, and data quality so teams spend less time on manual work and more time serving clients
- Establish the service model, support standards, and response expectations for a distributed workforce, including field-based EHS advisors across North America
- Ensure systems, network capacity, and tooling can absorb 20%+ YoY growth in headcount and revenue
Acquisition Integration- Lead technology due diligence and integration for acquired companies, including systems migration, data conversion, user onboarding, and retirement of legacy tools
- Build and continuously improve a repeatable integration playbook that shortens time to value and protects continuity of client delivery and data integrity
Security, Data & Risk- Own the cybersecurity program, including access management, endpoint protection, backup and disaster recovery, and incident response
- Establish data governance standards and maintain compliance with applicable security, privacy, and contractual requirements
Team Leadership & Vendor Management- Select, negotiate, and manage technology vendor and managed service provider relationships against defined service levels and cost targets
- Build, lead, and develop the technology function over time
- Partnering with the VP of EHS Strategy on AI initiatives within the business
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Five or more years of progressively responsible technology experience, including at least three years leading teams, vendors, and/or budgets
- Demonstrated ability to build and execute a technology roadmap in a growing, multi-location, or private equity-backed environment
- Experience managing technology budgets, vendor contracts, and managed service provider relationships
- Decisive and analytical, with sound judgment and the ability to build structure in a first-of-its-kind role
Preferred- Acquisition integration experience, including systems migration, data conversion, and legacy system retirement
- Experience implementing or managing ERP/PSA platforms (e.g., NetSuite)
- Based in or open to relocating to the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN metro area
- Adaptable and quick to embrace new technology and AI tools
Pay Range
$150,000-$180,000 USD
