Director of Spa
What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Hotel Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Lead the team
Lead all spa, fitness and wellness operations, including office and programming staff, therapists, and independent contractors.
Recruit, hire, train and develop managers and colleagues. Build a team that understands the expertise each role demands and delivers it with genuine care.
Coach and motivate your team to perform at their very best, creating a culture of recognition, accountability and growth.
Design and deliver ongoing training, workshops and seminars so colleagues stay current on technique, product knowledge and Fairmont service standards.
Curate the guest experience
Develop signature treatments, à la carte services and fitness concepts, including massage, skin care, makeup, hydrotherapy and thalassotherapy, aromatherapy, salon and personal training.
Balance every program so it is safe, effective and genuinely restorative for spa and resort guests.
Explore locally inspired, regionally sourced ingredients and products to give treatments a true sense of place.
Partner with product houses whose treatment concepts translate into great guest results and strong retail sales.
Uphold service excellence and program integrity across every touchpoint, in line with Fairmont brand and [Forbes/LQA] standards.
Drive the business
Own the spa budget, revenue forecasts, payroll and labor planning.
Build efficient schedules for colleagues and contractors that match guest demand in both peak and low occupancy.
Implement inventory systems, controls and purchasing procedures that protect margins and meet hotel standards.
Develop administrative and programming procedures, presentation standards and operating guidelines that integrate seamlessly with the wider hotel.
Be the face of the spa
Partner with Marketing and PR on special events, launches, media visits and brand partner activations.
Serve as a confident spokesperson with press, high-profile guests and industry partners.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
A minimum of 4 years managing a full-service luxury resort spa, or 1+ year as a senior leader in luxury spa plus 7 years of hospitality and wellness experience
Expertise in developing spa treatment and fitness concepts across massage, skin care, makeup, hydrotherapy and thalassotherapy, aromatherapy, salon and fitness
Proven ability to train colleagues in treatment procedures, including those new to the industry, so services are delivered safely and to a five-star standard
Experience building skin care and product concepts that deliver real guest benefits and strong retail performance
Solid financial acumen: budgeting, revenue projection, P&L management, inventory control and purchasing
Experience hiring for a luxury spa and knowing what excellence looks like in every role
Polished, confident presence with high-end clientele and the media
An inspiring leader who brings out the best in people
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
