Job Description
The Director of Pursuit (Marketing) is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving firm-wide pursuit excellence and securing high-value, business-critical opportunities. This individual will serve as the architect and steward of the firm's pursuit strategy-leading collaborative, cross-functional teams to position the firm as a partner of choice in competitive, qualifications-based environments.Operating at the intersection of marketing, business development, and client strategy, this role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and execution capabilities. The ideal candidate brings a sharp understanding of complex procurement environments and a proven track record of winning pursuits through innovative positioning, client-centric messaging, and high-performance team engagement.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership and Department Oversight - Develop and execute a comprehensive Marketing and Business Development Plan within the first 60 days, aligning all marketing activities with the company's growth objectives.
- Provide strategic oversight of core marketing functions including proposal management, SEO optimization, project collateral development, CRM data integrity, and digital campaigns.
- Champion a culture of strategic data organization to ensure continuity, future usability, and long-term departmental efficiency.
Proposal and Pursuit Management - Lead the creation, quality review, and submission of compelling client-centric proposals in collaboration with technical teams and division heads.
- Guide win strategies, content development, and compliance for pursuits, ensuring alignment with client expectations and firm capabilities.
- Maintain responsibility for quality assurance across all pursuit and marketing materials to uphold brand consistency and competitive positioning.
Project Sheets and Marketing Collateral - Design and regularly update high-impact project sheets that accurately reflect the firm's capabilities and accomplishments.
- Develop and manage brochures, presentations, and marketing campaigns that clearly communicate the company's value proposition.
Digital Marketing and SEO - Partner with SEO consultants to optimize the firm's online visibility and search performance.
- Oversee digital channels including website updates, social media strategy, email marketing, and content marketing to support lead generation and brand awareness.
CRM & ERP Integration - Ensure accurate and actionable use of CRM and ERP platforms (e.g., Deltek) to support marketing workflows and decision-making.
- Integrate marketing processes with firmwide systems to enhance data-driven pursuit and engagement efforts.
Opportunity Management - Monitor and assess opportunities from platforms such as MTA, Passport, and others, ensuring timely incorporation into the go/no-go decision process.
- Provide analytical and strategic support in evaluating potential pursuits and shaping business development direction.
Client Engagement & Market Intelligence - Collaborate closely with leadership and client-facing teams to support relationship-building, positioning, and proposal development.
- Conduct market research and explore innovative marketing tools and tactics to increase visibility and strengthen the company's competitive advantage.
Team Leadership & Operations - Manage, mentor, and delegate to marketing and business development staff, fostering a high-performance culture focused on execution and results.
- Lead coordination of events such as trade shows, webinars, and conferences, either directly or through effective delegation, to maximize business impact.
Process Optimization & SOPs - Design, document, and continuously refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all marketing and business development processes.
- Establish organized, navigable systems for managing files, data, and workflows to support long-term continuity and scalability.
Job Requirements
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related discipline (Master's degree preferred)
- 10-15 years of experience leading complex pursuits in the AEC, consulting, or professional services sector
- Deep understanding of public and private sector procurement processes, QBS methodologies, and client decision-making drivers
- Exceptional leadership, facilitation, and executive communication skills
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams under tight deadlines and shifting priorities
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign), Microsoft Office, and CRM platforms (e.g., Deltek, Salesforce)
- Strong command of storytelling, messaging strategy, and brand alignment
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 Annually
