As Veterinary United continues to expand, we're seeking an experienced
Director of Human Resources to lead our HR strategy, strengthen our people practices, and support a connected, high-performing culture across our organization.
Why This Role MattersThe Director of Human Resources will serve as a key member of the leadership team, helping shape the employee experience across Veterinary United. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership and practice leaders to align HR strategy with organizational goals, strengthen employee engagement, and build scalable systems that support our growing, values-driven network of clinics.
What You'll DoHR Strategy and LeadershipDevelop and execute human resources strategies that support organizational growth, employee retention, operational effectiveness, and company culture.
Employee RelationsProvide guidance and leadership on employee relations matters, workplace concerns, performance issues, conflict resolution, and corrective action.
Culture and Employee EngagementChampion a workplace culture rooted in connection, inclusion, accountability, well-being, and Veterinary United's core values.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce PlanningPartner with recruiters and operational leaders to support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, student outreach and engagement, and retention across veterinary and support teams.
Learning and Talent DevelopmentOversee employee development initiatives, leadership training, mentorship programs, succession planning, and career-pathing opportunities.
Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsure HR policies, practices, and procedures comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and reflect current HR best practices.
Performance ManagementStrengthen performance-management processes, including goal setting, coaching, feedback, evaluations, and leadership accountability.
Compensation and BenefitsProvide strategic oversight of compensation, benefits, employee recognition, and total-rewards programs to support competitiveness, equity, and retention.
HR Systems and InfrastructureEvaluate and improve HR policies, processes, technology, reporting, and organizational systems to meet the needs of a growing, multi-site organization.
Leadership PartnershipServe as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, practice leaders, and managers across Veterinary United's clinic network.
Who You AreYou are a people-focused and business-minded HR leader who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven organization.
You bring:
- Significant human resources leadership experience, preferably within a multi-site, healthcare, veterinary, or service-based organization.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, HR compliance, multi- state HR experience, performance management, and organizational development.
- Experience developing and implementing HR strategies that support business growth and organizational change.
- The ability to balance employee advocacy with the operational needs of the organization.
- Excellent communication, coaching, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A thoughtful and approachable leadership style grounded in accountability and servant leadership.
- A genuine passion for helping employees and leaders grow.
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, organizational psychology, or a related field. Advanced education or professional HR certification is preferred but not required.
