Job Summary:We are currently seeking a Full-Time Director of Nursing for the Suffolk County House of Corrections in Boston, MA
Responsibilities:- Maintain communication between correctional and nursing staff, contract providers, outside agencies and the Health Service Administrator [H.S.A.].
- Always ensure appropriate staff coverage for health services unit.
- Ensure that all inmates receive and intake screening upon admission to the facility.
- Ensure that health appraisals are completed on each inmate within the designated time frame upon entry into the facility.
- Supervise and evaluate work performance of nursing staff and counsel employees found in violation of established policies/procedures and practices.
- Monitor compliance with national and state standards, established policies, procedures and programs.
- Prepare reports on the utilization of health care services as required.
- Actively participate in Quality Improvement Committee and its activities.
- Develop, monitor, and present in-service training programs, including orientation.
- Monitor utilization of professional resources supplies and pharmaceuticals to ensure cost effective health care services.
- Coordinate outside medical consultations/treatment with the correctional facilities transportation section.
- It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
- Follow all security rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Schedule:- Day shift; however, will require flexibility based on business needs.
- Start date will be dependent upon completion of a signed offer letter and all required onboarding.
- County orientation (first day) takes place on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.
Salary:$145,000 to $160,000 Depending on Experience
Requirements
Qualifications and Education:- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Two years of prior supervisory experience either in acute care or a correctional setting.
- Maintains a current Registered Nursing License to practice in defined state.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
- Candidate must have a valid TB clearance and CPR certification to start.
Physical Requirements:- Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
- Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
- Candidates must be willing to train on the floor following orientation, if applicable.
