EMPLOYER: Calvin University

POSITION TITLE: Director of Nagel Institute

HOURS / WEEK: 40 hrs/week

JOB SITE LOCATION: 3201 Burton Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546  

DUTIES: Calvin University seeks a Director of Nagel Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position requires international and domestic travel for 2-4 conferences/year. Promote, generate, and encourage new scholarly initiatives on issues of World Christianity. Promote faculty participation in external networks devoted to World Christianity. Strategically align the work of the institute with the learning experiences of Calvin University undergraduate students. Oversee external communication links, including a web presence devoted to issues of World Christianity. Oversee the budget of the institute. Ensure efficient and effective completion of Institute projects. Take principal responsibility for writing grant proposals and obtaining external funding in collaboration with Calvin’s Office of Advancement. Serve as chief liaison between the Nagel Institute and its advisory council.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. (or foreign academic equivalent) in Religion, Christianity, Philosophy, or related field and FIVE (5) years of experience in the position offered or related position. Experience must include: experience in record of academic publications in World Christianity or related academic field; experience in record of strategic implementation of programming or initiatives related to the academic study of World Christianity or related field (e.g. conferences, workshops, lecture series, edited volumes);experience in record of submitting grant proposals and receiving grants; experience with post-secondary teaching; and experience with administrative leadership in an academic or research setting.

OTHER: This position requires international and domestic travel for 2-4 conferences/year.
