Summary Description of Position

The Director of Materials is responsible for overseeing Material Control, Supply Chain, Warehouse Management, Tooling, Facilities/Ground Support Equipment (GSE), Part Sales, and Purchasing operations. This role ensures compliance with all relevant procedures and regulations while effectively managing associated personnel. In the absence of the Director of Materials, designated qualified individuals may assume responsibilities; however, ultimate accountability remains with the Director.
Minimum Requirements & Qualification
  1. Associate's degree or 5-7 years of progressively responsible management experience in related fields.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  3. Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  4. Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Extensive knowledge of aircraft materials, hardware, material substitutions, manuals, and specifications.
  7. Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials shipping and storage regulations.
  8. Understanding international shipping regulations, invoicing, customs requirements, and associated compliance standards.
  9. Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 145 Repair Station material and inspection requirements.
  10. Experience with FAA Part Manufacturing Authority (PMA) procedures.
  11. Knowledge of Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development, manufacturing, and provisioning.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Ensure personnel training compliance regarding the safe handling, identification, and management of all materials, including hazardous materials.
  • Adhere to customer-specific material procedures, including compliance with air carrier HazMat policies.
  • Procure raw materials from certified vendors that meet or exceed manufacturer and FAA requirements.
  • Verify that all materials meet the required quality standards and certifications for acceptance by receiving inspection.
  • Contract maintenance functions only with FAA-approved vendors listed on the Approved Vendor List maintained by Quality Assurance.
  • Oversee supply chain, storage facilities, shipping processes, scrap parts management, Calibrations, and shelf-life program compliance, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure material resource responsibilities align with Repair Station Manual Contract Maintenance Section policies and requirements.
  • Manage and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Oversee budget management for shop supplies, tooling, facilities, and GSE.
Additional Duties
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Vice President of Operations to support day-to-day operational needs.
Physical Requirements And Environmental Conditions
  1. Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a normal office environment.
