Full Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Manufacturing oversees the production processes, schedules, equipment, and personnel across multiple TAS facilities in Houston, TX. This position has direct management responsibility for production supervisory roles with all supervisory and hourly production positions reporting them.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide strategic leadership for manufacturing operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, operational excellence, and cost reduction efforts across all facilities.
  • Oversee manufacturing operations across multiple facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production performance.
  • Evaluate and optimize production workflows, assembly methods, and operational processes to improve productivity, quality, and throughput.
  • Lead capital equipment planning, acquisition, facility layout improvements, and ROI analysis to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Direct workforce planning, staffing, scheduling, training, and employee development for all production departments.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), production targets, and quality objectives, ensuring accountability and achievement of business goals.
  • Develop, analyze, and communicate production, operational, staffing, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure projects, departmental objectives, and production commitments are completed on schedule and within approved budgets.
  • Manage capacity planning and resource allocation based on sales forecasts, backlog demands, and customer requirements, recommending expansion or operational changes as needed.
  • Foster a culture of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and regulatory compliance across all manufacturing operations.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and manufacturing best practices to drive innovation and operational improvements.
  • Develop and implement succession planning, leadership development, and training programs to strengthen organizational capability and workforce effectiveness.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:
  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering or related field.
  • Substitution for military leadership and/or technical work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 10+ years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial production environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing manufacturing operations and production teams.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams, drive operational improvements, and achieve business objectives.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing principles and operational best practices, with the ability to make strategic decisions and drive results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • 15+ years of experience in a fabrication shop
  • Master's degree in engineering, business, manufacturing, or related fields a plus


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 70% to 85% at a desk working with computer and 15% to 30% observing and directing work in our non-temperature-controlled manufacturing shops. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
