Job PurposeThe Director of Loss Prevention is responsible for the entire Loss Prevention Department at Royal Farms. This position exists to minimize and prevent loss at Royal Farms.
This position is to assist in minimizing and preventing loss through the 100% execution of company brand standards in policies and procedures in conjunction with the best-known practices of Loss Prevention in the workplace. The Director of LP is also in charge of the inventory auditing process, camera surveillance, and safe systems and works with other departments in streamlining processes that affect areas of responsibility in Loss Prevention throughout Royal Farms. This position is also a liason to law enforcement, courts, prosecutors, and local communities.
Essential Functions Strategic Oversight & Risk Mitigation- Shrink, Cash & Waste Oversight - Leads company-wide strategies to monitor, analyze, and reduce shrink, cash variance, and product waste. Partners with operations to drive accountability and implement prevention initiatives. Deploys LP Officers to address high-risk areas.
- Robbery & Theft Response - Oversees the response to robbery incidents and organized retail crime schemes. Coordinates with law enforcement and legal entities to support investigations and prosecutions.
Inventory Systems & Process Optimization- Process Improvement & Technology Integration - Drives forward-thinking initiatives to enhance inventory, shrink, and cash handling procedures through technology and process redesign.
- Inventory Accuracy & Efficiency - Ensures data integrity and process efficiency during scheduled inventory audits, supporting crew effectiveness and reporting quality.
Regulatory & Legal Compliance- AML & BSA Compliance Oversight - Provides leadership and oversight of the company's Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Act compliance program. Ensures designated staff maintain up-to-date policies, coordinate audits, file required reports, and meet federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Violation Response Management - Oversees team responses to FDA violations related to tobacco and alcohol sales. Ensures all issues are appropriately addressed, documented, and resolved in accordance with company and regulatory expectations.
- Alart Compliance - Monitors enterprise-level trends in false alarm activity and ensures the team manages resolution and payment of associated fines.
- Legal Coordination - Oversees relationships with law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies, ensuring staff provide appropriate support for criminal investigations and legal proceedings.
Security Infrastructure Oversight- Alarm System Oversight - Provides strategic oversight of alarm monitoring systems to ensure all stores are equipped for emergency response. Ensures the team maintains accurate contact protocols and incident reporting processes.
- Cash Safe Technology - Oversees safe-related systems and processes to ensure secure and efficient cash handling across the organization. Partners with IT and Operations to support ongoing functionality improvement and reporting capabilities.
- Surveillance System Management - Provides leadership over the deployment, maintainance, and optimization of store camera systems. Ensures the systems support investigative needs, legal compliance, training functions, and POS integration.
- Armored Transport Services - Oversees armored car vendor performance to ensure consistent and secure deposit pick-up and change delivery services for store operations.
- Access Control & Key Security - Provides oversight of key control protocols across all store and corporate facilities to maintain physical security and accountability.
Project Management & Financial Oversight - Organizes all LP responsibilities and ensures they are accomplished with all new store construction and remodels.
- Reviews and approves departmental bills to ensure accuracy and proper documentation in alignment with company procedures.
Leadership & Team Development - Team Oversight - Provides strategic guidance to direct reports, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and company objectives.
- Performance Alignment - Conducts weekly tactical meetings with staff to maintain focus on key measures, initiatives, and project execution.
- Support & Development - Fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development within the Loss Prevention Team.
Additional Responsibilities- Uphold the mission, core values, and brand standards of the company by ensuring all Loss Prevention practices reflect integrity, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Performs other projects/duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Supervises the Senior Corporate Compliance Officer and the Senior Inventory Crew Leader
Qualifications Required- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Buisness Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum seven years of leadership experience in Loss Prevention, Risk Management, or related fields.
- Minimum two years of experience in the retail or convenience store industry.
- Extensive experience with inventory management, cash handling processes, surveillance systems, POS and safe technologies.
- Proficiency in enterprise-level systems and audit tools related to inventory flow and loss tracking.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, workplace safety protocols, and federal, state, and local laws governing loss prevention, and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and general business software.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred- LPQ or LPC certification for the Loss Prevention Foundation
- Familiarity with LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
Sucess Factors- Operation Loss Reduction - Consistently reduces shrink, waste, and cash loss across all locations by leveraging data analysis, proactive field investigation and strong collaboration with operations.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution - Aligns Loss Prevention objectives with companywide initiatives by leading a high-performing team, partnering with key departments, and ensuring LP readiness for all new store projects and remodels.
Work Requirements- This position is based at the Baltimore Support Center. Work hours must be highly flexible. Depending on circumstances, this position may require 24-hour availability, including nights and weekends. Travel is required to all Royal Farms stores and facilities across all states, as well as for training and development related to company initiatives and industry changes.
- The physical demandsof the role are limited but may include extended periods of driving, along with occasional light bending and lifting.
Pay Range
USD $100,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
