Overview

The IT Director provides enterprise-level leadership for BerryDunn’s technology strategy, operations, and modernization efforts in support of a geographically distributed workforce, multiple office locations, and the firm’s continued growth. This role shapes the vision and direction for IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, business applications, architecture, data platforms, and digital transformation, ensuring technology capabilities enable strategic priorities, operational effectiveness, service reliability, and future growth. Leading the IT Leadership Team, the IT Director serves as a strategic business leader, leveraging technology, data, automation, and artificial intelligence to strengthen client service, improve operational scalability and employee experience, and support the firm’s long-term growth.

 

Travel Expectations: This role requires minimal travel, less than 10% per year.

You Will
  • Lead the development and execution of a multi-year IT strategic and operational plan that positions IT as a proactive partner in firm growth, transformation, service excellence, and operational effectiveness.
  • Establish IT goals, governance practices, service expectations, and performance measures that strengthen accountability, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets, technology forecasts, business cases, sourcing strategies, vendor investments, and multi-year investment roadmaps that optimize firm value, cost effectiveness, resource capacity, and service quality.
  • Establish enterprise architecture practices, including technology standards, solution design governance, integration patterns, platform roadmaps, and technical debt management.
  • Oversee internal systems, enterprise applications, data platforms, integrations, and databases to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with firm architecture standards.
  • Lead evaluation, governance, and adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, and productivity platforms, to improve business outcomes while aligning with risk, cybersecurity, data protection, and compliance requirements.
  • Advance observability and performance insight across IT systems, including service health, application performance, incident trends, availability, reliability, and KPI reporting.
  • Partner with firm leaders and transformation stakeholders to prioritize and deliver technology initiatives that improve client service, operational efficiency, automation, digital enablement, and business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, risk, compliance, and business continuity stakeholders to align technology decisions with security requirements, data protection expectations, and firm risk priorities.
  • Partner with business leaders to govern technology demand, prioritize the IT portfolio, and balance resource capacity, business value, risk, and strategic objectives.
  • Lead technology-enabled change by building stakeholder alignment and readiness and coordinating communication, training, adoption, and sustained use of new systems and tools.
  • Promote continuous learning and innovation across IT through knowledge sharing, technical development, communities of practice, and ongoing capability building.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the IT Leadership Team, fostering a culture of empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Oversee recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning for IT staff.
  • Define, communicate, and engage others in strategic plans, policies, and technology standards across all levels of the firm.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry associations to enhance IT strategy and capabilities.
You Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • 10-15 years of progressive IT leadership experience in a professional services or complex office environment, including experience leading managers, technical teams, vendors, contractors, and/or managed service providers.
  • Proven experience developing IT strategy, governance practices, technology roadmaps, and operational plans that align with business objectives.
  • Experience managing IT budgets, sourcing strategies, vendor relationships, contracts, statements of work, and service delivery expectations.
  • Experience leading enterprise applications, internal systems development, architecture, integration, database, data platform, or cloud-based technology teams.
  • Working knowledge of modern IT practices, including SDLC, project management, service management, data governance, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and secure configuration practices.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, IT service analytics, operational dashboards, and KPI-based performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional transformation initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
  • Relevant technical, ITIL, project management, cloud, or security-related certifications valued.
Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $185,000 - $210,000.  This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on factors such as company and personal performance.  This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
