Description
The Mission: As the Director of Flooring Sales, your primary objective is to take direct authority over company-wide flooring sales performance, job-site readiness, install execution, and custom inventory discipline. You are responsible for driving category growth, safeguarding account margins, and leading flooring sales field teams. Reporting directly to VP of Sales, you ensure our commitment to the builder is executed flawlessly on the job site while removing category burdens from location LBM Sales Managers.
Defining the Role: - Sales Leadership & Category Growth: Own overall flooring sales expansion, track account-level margins, and eliminate unmonitored low-margin accounts.
- Job-Site Readiness & Install Execution: Drive job-site prep standards, coordinate installation requirements, safeguard OTIF delivery, and resolve warranty escalations.
- Custom Inventory Control: Enforce adherence to 45-, 75-, and 90-day custom flooring inventory aging reports to protect cash flow.
- Team Scaling & Training Camps: Establish onboarding pathways and execute annual 8-week Flooring Training Camps to support projected 50%+ category growth.
- Scalable Regional Modeling: Build standard operating procedures allowing branch teams to handle doubled flooring volume without expanding administrative headcount, paving the way for future North/South split model.
- Multi-Location Territory Leadership: Own Flooring sales strategy and execution across a multi-location market (territory boundaries determined based on candidate base location), while maintaining a required 1-2 day(s) weekly on-site presence at our Campbellsport, WI locations.
What Success Looks Like: Performance is measured by your direct impact on sales growth, site execution, and operational scalability:
- Flooring Sales & Margin Expansion: Achieving company-wide category growth targets while protecting project profit margins.
- Job-Site Prep & OTIF Execution: Achieving high OTIF scores, flawless site prep, and immediate warranty resolution.
- Custom Dwell Time Reduction: Maintaining zero custom flooring inventory aged past 45, 75, and 90 days.
- Scalability Metric: Increasing flooring volume handled per branch without proportionate increases in administrative headcount.
- Workload Driver: The primary workload metric is overall flooring sales volume, number of active install projects, and branch location expansion.
The Essentials:- 5+ years of sales leadership experience in flooring, interior finishes, or building materials.
- Deep expertise in job-site readiness, installation oversight, and field warranty management.
- Demonstrated ability to build training programs, execute 8-week training camps, and develop sales talent.
- Proven track record in financial management, custom inventory aging enforcement, and scalable territory modeling.
