Job Summary This position serves as the Foundation's controller - the technical accounting authority responsible for the integrity of the monthly and annual close. • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; ensure GAAP (ASC 958) compliance across all fund types.
• Set technical accounting policy for contributions, pledges, investments, and net assets; resolve complex or judgment-based accounting questions raised by the team.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and segregation of duties across the close cycle.
• Prepare the monthly financial reporting package (statements, budget-to-actual, variance, KPIs) for the AVP's review and Board distribution.
• Partner with the AVP on regulatory reporting and the external audit by supplying schedules, reconciliations, and technical support (the AVP holds primary ownership of both).
Requested Minimum Qualifications Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
Experience: At least seven years of progressive nonprofit or fund accounting experience, including ownership of a full close cycle is also required.
Other Preferences for Consideration - CPA or in active progress.
- Eight plus years of experience.
