Overview

The Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead the financial strategy and accounting operations of this iconic Omaha property. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a hospitality finance professional who understands hotel operations, can confidently partner with ownership, and knows how to turn financial data into actionable business decisions.

The Director of Finance will oversee all aspects of hotel accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and financial planning. This leader will partner closely with the General Manager, hotel leadership, ownership, and operational teams to maximize profitability while maintaining strong financial controls and transparency.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a high-profile property while leading a strong, established finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial operations for the hotel.
  • Oversee monthly financial close, reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performance.
  • Partner with hotel leadership to identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Provide clear, actionable financial insights to ownership and senior leadership.
  • Manage ownership reporting and respond effectively to financial requests and expectations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Support system implementation, process improvements, and technology initiatives.
  • Lead, develop, and support a two-person finance team.
  • Collaborate with operations, food & beverage, sales, and other departments to achieve financial goals.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and hotel leadership team.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Previous experience in a Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, Controller, or similar hotel finance leadership role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hotel accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience working with decentralized accounting processes and property-level financial operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with hotel ownership and senior leadership and communicate financial performance clearly.
  • Strong systems and technology experience, with the ability to lead or support financial system implementations and process improvements.
  • Experience with Opera Cloud, Toast, Workday, ProfitSword, or similar hospitality technology preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach in a fast-paced hotel environment.
  • Hospitality experience strongly preferred, particularly within a full-service hotel with multiple revenue centers.
