POSITION SUMMARY
As Urban One's Director of Estimating, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the estimating process for Urban One. Your expertise and strategic thinking will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and competitive bids, maximizing profitability, and driving the success of our projects. You will lead a team of estimators, foster strong relationships with clients, and trade partners and contribute to the grown and innovation of our company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Lead and supervise the estimating team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
- Develop and implement effective estimation strategies, methodologies, and best practices to enhance efficiency and bid accuracy.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates, take-offs, and material quantity surveys.
Bid Management and Proposal Development:
- Analyze project requirements and evaluate risk factors to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Ensure bid proposals are competitive, financially viable, and aligned with project goals.
- Present and defend bid proposals to clients, demonstrating a deep understanding of the project and value-added solutions.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals.
- Collaborate with business development to support client engagement efforts.
- Represent Urban One at industry events to enhance brand visibility and network with potential clients and partners.
Continuous Improvement and Market Analysis:
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging.
- Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking to ensure organizational competitiveness.
- Continuously refine and improve estimation tools, software, and processes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Building Technology or Quantity Surveying.
- 10+ years of construction estimating.
- Strong knowledge of objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts.
- Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools.
- Strong knowledge of various types of construction methodologies, project management models, financial management, building codes, contract law and relevant legislation.
- Proven leadership abilities and experiencing managing and developing teams of estimators.
- Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and able to work effectively under.
- Confident communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
