Full Job Description
The Director of Corporate Development will source and execute the acquisitions and strategic partnerships that accelerate Rover's market position. This is a high-impact role on a small, senior team, with end-to-end ownership across the full deal lifecycle, from sourcing and valuation through negotiation, close, and integration. The ideal candidate brings expertise in target identification, financial modeling, synergy evaluation, deal process management, contract negotiation, and post-close integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the VP of Corporate Development and other key internal stakeholders to evaluate, negotiate, and execute acquisitions and strategic partnerships
  • Develop investment theses and strategic rationale for potential acquisitions
  • Build target financial models including forecast scenarios, synergies, and integration costs
  • Coach and develop junior team members on financial modeling and deal process
  • Apply a deep understanding of Rover's business and operating environment to inform deal evaluation
  • Partner with the integrations lead to develop integration plans and success criteria for transactions
  • Drive post-close evaluation of completed transactions against success criteria
  • Build and maintain a prioritized pipeline of external targets that can accelerate Rover's businesses
  • Monitor the pet industry ecosystem, including existing and emerging players
  • Establish relationships with founders, executives, and decision-makers at relevant companies


Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of corporate development and/or M&A experience, whether in-house or in investment banking / advisory
  • Proven ability to develop and articulate the strategic value of potential transactions
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including forecasting, synergy estimation and sensitivity analysis of targets
  • Ability to identify, articulate, and pressure-test key financial and strategic assumptions underlying potential acquisitions
  • Project and stakeholder management skills across the full deal lifecycle, including identification, financial evaluation, due diligence, negotiation, integration, and retrospective analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build trusted internal and external relationships
  • Ability to develop an understanding of individual companies as well as their place within an industry ecosystem
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the technology or pet sectors
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree

Compensation

  • In the greater Seattle area the first-year salary range is $158,513 - $210,822 with a 15% bonus. Additionally, Rover offers benefits to full-time employees.
  • The cash compensation offered for this role will be dependent on the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and abilities as demonstrated in the interview and hiring process.
