Responsibilities

  • Work with Service Managers and regional Catering Directors to uphold catering standards
  • Ensure exceptional customer service for all events

  • Address and resolve employee relations issues in collaboration with the team
  • Develop and maintain staffing budgets and manage financial responsibilities
  • Carry out additional duties and special projects as needed

Position Title: DIRECTOR OF CATERING, BAY AREA, CA

Pay Grade: ((payGrade_obj))

Reports To: GENERAL MANAGER

Salary: $110,000 - $125,000

Other Forms of Compensation: Medical, Dental & Vision insurance, 401K, PTO, Bonus eligible up to 30%

Job Summary

Working as the Director of Catering Services you are responsible for maintaining and establishing all costs and quality standards to ensure superior service and to maximize profits. You will work independently with a direct line to the client. You are expected to maintain excellent relationships with employees, guests and the client. You will be responsible for promoting the professional growth and development of the entire team. In addition, you will foster strong interdepartmental relations and integrate the catering service department with the facility plan of operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Service Managers in other regions as well as all regional Catering Directors to ensure all catering events are carried out according to the standards of the company and client.
  • Ensure high levels of customer service are executed for each event.
  • Interview, hire, train, as well as assist with scheduling all butlers and captains within the local staffing pool.
  • Conduct orientation for all Catering Directors/Managers regarding Company standards of service
  • Handle and resolve all employee relations issues with the partnership of the team
  • Execute all coaching, counseling and follow up training for all employees according to Company Policies and Procedures in partnership with the Director, Staffing Services.
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Supports Catering Directors and Managers with staffing budgets and maintains financial accountabilities as it relates to service


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree is preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of food, industry trends and fine dining points of service
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in managing catering events
  • The ability to supervise food service and clean up is also essential
  • TIPs certification required
  • ServSafe certification recommended
  • Superior quantitative, oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills
  • Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proactive mindset to anticipate and support changes in our business
  • Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
