Job Summary
The Director of Career Services provides strategic and operational leadership for Augusta University Career Services and university-wide initiatives that advance career readiness, career-connected learning, workforce preparation, and post-graduation success. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Director leads comprehensive career education, coaching, employer relations, experiential learning support, recruitment programs, technology-enabled services, and career outcomes assessment for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and alumni. The Director develops and implements approved strategic priorities; supervises and develops staff; manages assigned budgets, technology, and operations; cultivates employer, alumni, faculty, and community partnerships; and uses student engagement, labor-market, employer, and graduate outcomes data to improve programs and inform institutional planning. The Director advances a campus-wide culture in which career readiness and career-connected learning are shared responsibilities across academic and administrative units and ensures broad, accessible participation in services and opportunities.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP, STUDENT SUCCESS, & CAREER ECOSYSTEM DEVELOPMENT:
Provide strategic leadership for Career Services programs and cross-campus initiatives that advance student success, career readiness, workforce preparation, and post-graduation outcomes.
Develop recommendations and implement approved long-range plans, annual priorities, measurable goals, and assessment strategies for Career Services.
Lead Career Services contributions to institutional efforts that integrate career readiness throughout the student lifecycle.
Connect academic learning with professional competencies, applied experiences, employment, graduate education, and lifelong career management.
Provide university leaders with analysis and recommendations regarding workforce trends, student career outcomes, employer expectations, service delivery, and resource needs.
Represent Career Services and Augusta University, within delegated authority, in professional associations, workforce partnerships, and external stakeholder groups.
CAREER READINESS, STUDENT DEVELOPMENT, & PROGRAM INNOVATION:
Lead comprehensive career development programs supporting career exploration, professional identity development, career decision-making, internships, job preparation, graduate school planning, networking, interviewing, and lifelong career management.
Oversee career coaching, assessments, workshops, classroom presentations, career fairs, and co-curricular programs.
Collaborate with colleges, academic departments, faculty, advising, student support units, and student engagement programs.
Integrate career readiness competencies and workforce preparation into curricular and co-curricular experiences.
Use technology and scalable service models to expand awareness, access, engagement, and service utilization.
Develop targeted strategies to reduce barriers for students who may have limited access to professional networks or career-connected experiences.
EMPLOYER RELATIONS, INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT, & CAREER-CONNECTED LEARNING:
Develop and implement comprehensive employer engagement strategies that expand internships, cooperative education, project-based learning, mentorship, networking, on-campus student employment, and full-time employment opportunities.
Cultivate and sustain relationships with corporations, healthcare organizations, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, schools, entrepreneurial ventures, and community partners.
Oversee employer-facing programs, including career fairs, recruitment events, employer information sessions, on-campus recruiting, networking programs, and partnership stewardship.
Partner with Academic Deans and Chairs to develop employer relationship plans and strategies.
Partner with Alumni Engagement and University Advancement to leverage alumni expertise and networks for mentoring, career exploration, recruitment, and professional connection.
Position Augusta University as a preferred recruiting destination and responsive talent-development partner.
ASSESSMENT, DATA ANALYTICS, & INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Develop and implement an assessment framework for student learning, program effectiveness, participation, employer engagement, experiential learning, and post-graduation outcomes.
Lead administration, analysis, and timely reporting of the First Destination Survey and other required career outcomes reporting.
Analyze student engagement, internship employment, graduate education, employer, and labor-market data to identify opportunities, participation gaps, and areas for continuous improvement.
Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations for university leadership, administration, and external stakeholders.
Promote evidence-based decision-making and accountability.
PERSONNEL, FISCAL, TECHNOLOGY, & OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP:
Recruit, supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate Career Services staff.
Establish clear roles, service standards, goals, accountability measures, and professional development plans.
Administer assigned budgets and steward personnel, technology, facilities, contracts, sponsorships, grants, and other resources.
Oversee Career Services operations, records, technology platforms, communications, facilities, risk management, and service quality.
Develop and maintain operational procedures.
Monitor compliance with university policies and applicable federal and state requirements.
Consult appropriate university offices when interpretation or approval is needed.
Identify external funding, sponsorship, partnership, and grant opportunities that support innovation and strategic initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
Perform other duties consistent with the position classification and as assigned.
Required Qualifications
A Master's degree from an Accredited College or University in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, career development, business administration, human resources, education, organizational leadership, public administration, or a related field.
Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in career services, employer relations, workforce development, higher education administration, advising or counseling, human resources, experiential learning, or a closely related field. Experience must include at least three years of leadership and direct supervision of professional or administrative staff, as well as responsibility for program planning, assessment, operations, or budget/resource management.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success securing grants, sponsorships, external funding, or strategic partnerships.
Knowledge of the workforce context relevant to Augusta University, including healthcare, education, government, cybersecurity, business, research, and other regional or statewide talent needs.
Relevant professional certification or active engagement in career services, student affairs, human resources, workforce development, or experiential learning associations.
Experience leading a comprehensive college or university career services operation or similarly complex career and workforce development function.
Experience developing employer partnerships and expanding internships, cooperative education, project-based learning, mentorship, student employment, or full-time recruiting opportunities.
Experience integrating career readiness competencies into curricular and co-curricular programs in partnership with faculty and campus units.
Experience administering graduation surveys or comparable graduate outcomes assessment and presenting findings to institutional leaders and external stakeholders.
Experience using career services technology, customer relationship management tools, labor-market analytics, survey platforms, dashboards, and data visualization to improve services and outcomes.
Experience leading organizational change, service redesign, technology implementation, or the launch and scaling of new programs.
