About the Role

We're hiring a Director of Campus Security to establish and lead the physical security program for the Monarch campus in Mason County, West Virginia.

Reporting to the VP, Global Physical & Data Center Security, you'll serve as the senior Nscale security leader at Monarch. You'll work closely with Global Physical & Data Center Security, Corporate Security, Safety, site leadership, engineering, construction, operations, and external partners across a large-scale data center campus and associated power-generation infrastructure.

This is a full-time, site-based leadership role requiring a visible, hands-on presence throughout the transition from construction into full operations. You'll build a mature, scalable security organization that protects the entire campus, integrates security across data center and generation environments, and ensures operational readiness as Monarch expands.
What you'll be doing

Lead the campus security program
  • Own the day-to-day physical security program and serve as the primary escalation point for significant campus security matters.
  • Establish site security policies, procedures, standards, governance, and operating protocols across Nscale-controlled areas.
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments, maintain a site-specific risk register, and drive mitigation strategies to completion.
  • Ensure campus security operations align with Nscale global standards and customer requirements.

Build and oversee security operations
  • Establish the operational security organization, staffing model, post orders, patrol procedures, access controls, incident response procedures, and escalation protocols.
  • Manage contracted security providers and service partners, setting measurable service levels and performance expectations.
  • Oversee the campus Security Operations Center or monitoring function and ensure personnel are appropriately trained, equipped, and managed.
  • Lead security incident response, investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and regular performance reviews.

Protect data center and critical infrastructure
  • Apply appropriate security requirements across the data center, power-generation infrastructure, utilities, administrative areas, and supporting facilities.
  • Partner with Data Center Infrastructure, Engineering, Facilities, Safety, and Operations to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Maintain effective security separation and access controls between data center, power, utility, administrative, and other campus areas.
  • Support the protection of generation assets, substations, interconnects, fuel and gas infrastructure, control systems, and associated facilities.

Lead the construction-to-operations transition
  • Partner with the Construction Security Program Manager to establish a structured transition from construction security to operational security.
  • Develop the operational security model before customer turnover and data center activation.
  • Validate staffing, procedures, technology, and systems before operational acceptance.
  • Oversee the transition of security technology from construction commissioning into operational ownership and close gaps before facilities go live.

Manage threats, technology, and compliance
  • Monitor the local threat environment and develop protective measures for trespassing, theft, vandalism, protest activity, unauthorized surveillance, workplace violence, and targeted threats.
  • Partner with Corporate Security, Threat Intelligence, and Security Design & Technology on emerging threats and operational requirements.
  • Oversee the performance, testing, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and lifecycle planning of access control, CCTV, biometrics, intrusion detection, perimeter detection, intercoms, and related systems.
  • Support customer audits and security reviews, maintain required documentation, track performance metrics and key risk indicators, and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Build teams and stakeholder relationships
  • Build, recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing campus security organization as Monarch scales.
  • Establish clear accountability across Nscale employees, contracted providers, and other security stakeholders.
  • Develop strong relationships with law enforcement, emergency management agencies, fire and emergency services, government organizations, utilities, infrastructure partners, and relevant community stakeholders.
  • Represent Nscale in relevant local and regional security matters and promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, readiness, and continuous improvement.
KPIs
  • Operational security readiness before customer turnover and data center activation
  • Completion of corrective actions from incidents, audits, and assessments
  • Security contractor performance against established service levels
  • Availability and operational performance of campus security systems
About You

  • 5+ years in a security leadership or management position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing security programs for large-scale or high-consequence facilities.
  • Experience managing contracted security organizations, security vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, biometrics, intrusion detection, perimeter security, and security operations.
  • Experience developing security programs from construction through operational readiness.
  • Strong risk assessment, incident management, crisis response, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence engineering, construction, operations, safety, facilities, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience securing hyperscale or AI data centers, power generation, substations, energy infrastructure, or other critical infrastructure is preferred.
