Full Job Description
Director of Business Operations | Hospice and Palliative Care

Visiting Nurse Health System (VNHS) is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Business Operations to lead the business-office infrastructure supporting Hospice and Palliative Care. This leader partners with clinical and executive teams to strengthen documentation integrity, billing readiness, regulatory compliance, revenue-cycle performance, and the patient and family experience.

Hospice care is a special need for those approaching the end of their life journey. VNHS needs a calm, compassionate, and empathetic professional who cares for the patient and their family during this difficult time. This role is not just about the nuts and bolts of business operations; it's about adding value to Visiting Nurse's values of Respect and Integrity, Excellence, Stewardship, and Care.

WHAT YOU'LL LEAD

  • Business-office operations, health information management, medical records, provider credentialing, and assigned support staff.
  • Pre-bill readiness, including documentation-gap resolution, billing holds, payer forms, physician orders, certifications, recertifications, CTIs, face-to-face records, and hospice election documentation.
  • Cross-functional workflows among clinical operations, intake, scheduling, billing, revenue cycle, physicians, funeral homes, and external partners.
  • Compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, CHAP, Conditions of Participation, release-of-information requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Dashboards, audits, and trend analysis covering documentation aging, outstanding orders, denials, charitable care, productivity, and revenue-cycle risks.
  • Process improvement, staff coaching, standardized procedures, and accountability initiatives that reduce delays, rework, and avoidable denials.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business operations, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of leadership experience in hospice or home health office operations, including Medicaid and healthcare back-office administration.
  • Working knowledge of hospice documentation, reimbursement, revenue-cycle workflows, physician-order tracking, and health-information practices; CHAP accreditation experience is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, customer service, communication, analytical, research, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook; comfort using HRIS, healthcare technology, reporting tools, and AI-enabled platforms.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgment, initiative, and integrity.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current vehicle insurance
