Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station is seeking a hands-on Director of Accounting & Human Resources to manage the day-to-day execution of the organization's accounting, payroll, and human resources functions. This is an ideal role for a well-rounded professional who is comfortable moving between accounting, payroll, and compliance. This position will strengthen and create systems that will support Crowne Plaza's operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-documented financial and HR processes.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Accounting and Human Resources is a key member of the Crowne Plaza Union Station's Executive Committee.
Key Responsibilities - Accounting & Payroll (70%)
• Manage day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review, coding, documentation, and follow-up.
• Support bank and account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records Opera, Micros, and Profit sword.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and/or coordinate journal entries and ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period and cost center.
• Monitor budgets, expenditures, receivables, and outstanding vendor obligations and elevate concerns to the General Manager.
• Support annual brand and permit compliance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow reporting, and financial reporting as requested.
• Maintain strong internal controls and recommend process improvements that increase accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
• Track required filings, deadlines, certifications, and (brand and legal) compliance documentation.
• Manage all accounts receivable, including setting up new accounts, sending invoices, posting payments, and collections
• Work with the sales department to bill groups accurately and in a timely manner
• Respond to all guest billing inquiries in a timely and accurate manner with a focus on guest service
• File HR and accounting records (digitally and physically)
• Answer phones, respond to emails, order office supplies, and complete other administrative office tasks
• Administer bi-weekly payroll through Paycor, including review of timekeeping, payroll changes, and supporting documentation.
• Support supervisors with timekeeping administration.
• Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities - Payroll, Training, Onboarding & Human Resources (30%)
• Ensuring all Team members are onboarded: Conduct IHG Brand, Safety, and Policy Training.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records and required HR documentation.
• Track required filings, deadlines, certifications, and (brand and legal) compliance documentation.
• Conduct Weekly Onboarding classes for new Team Members
What Success Looks Like:
• Payroll is accurate, timely, and routinely reconciled.
• Monthly finance processes are completed consistently with clear supporting documentation.
• Ensure Team Members are onboarded and set up for success
• Successful processes that lead to accurate accounting records and processing
• Audit and compliance requests can be answered efficiently from well-maintained records.
Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
• 3-5 Years of Accounting
• Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude
• High level of confidentiality and integrity
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
• High attention to detail and confidentiality
• Experience working in a hotel or other hospitality setting
