Full Job Description
Reporting to the VP, Business Development/Market Access, the Director Market Access, working with management, medical and commercial will play a critical role in creating and shaping strategy and execution with key stakeholders in the life-science ecosystem in Canada to deliver on short and long term objectives.

The Director Market Access will be responsible for the timely development, execution, and ultimate success of corporate market access plans, including determining and managing the required internal and external resources. The Director shall be the primary corporate liaison for all public and private drug plans, HTA agencies, pCPA as well as the PMPRB.

Here's What You'll Do:
  • Lead Market Access Strategic Planning:
    • Develop key strategic integrated market access plans including pricing, health technology assessments (HTAs) with the support of outside consultants, value messaging, and public and private listings aligned with business development, commercial and medical teams.
    • Lead team of external experts handling any appeals of unsuccessful submissions or applications.
    • Supervise PMPRB regulatory data collection, submission preparation and filings.
    • Key contact for all interactions with federal, provincial and private drug plans and payers, including routine filings, notification of changes to the corporate product portfolio and dealing with routine inquiries.
  • Lead & Execute All Market Access Initiatives:
    • Lead team of external experts who prepare robust HTA submissions to secure market access for current and future product portfolios ahead of industry standards with both private and public payers and other key public organizations.
    • Manage corporate compliance with all PMPRB pricing regulations, including secure prices for new products, routine filings and related advice to internal departments.
    • Conduct and execute regular follow-up and advocacy with appropriate public or private drug plan personnel.


  • Grow the business working with Business Development:
    • Work with business development and other functional teams to help shape corporate strategy, related to new product in-licensing and recommend market access plans including pricing and reimbursement strategies to support business case.


  • Relationship Building:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships and corporate profile with key decision makers within relevant provincial and federal health organizations.


  • Coaching / Training Best in Class Market Access Team:
    • Ensure ongoing professional development of three current direct reports and fostering an environment for continuous learning and skills enhancement.
    • Evaluate needs / resources supporting growth of company and department.


  • Here's What You'll Bring To The Table
    • University degree in appropriate science or commerce discipline (Pharmacy or health care related). MBA or MSc an asset.
    • 10 years of progressive experience in Market Access experience in Canadian pharma environment.
    • Proven ability to think strategically and develop new business models from the ground up with limited structure and direction
    • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written). Bilingual French & English a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and develop the market access team
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage ambiguity and pivot fearlessly
    • Ability to effectively collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
