Location: NYC 1211 6th Avenue

Type: Hybrid 3 days a week in office

Pay Range:

About the Role

The Director, Global Network Operations will be responsible for leading the team that supports the reliability, resilience, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of News Corp’s enterprise network services. This leader will supervise three regional network operations managers covering the US, EMEA, and Asia, while continuing to expand the role of India-based staff in delivering increasingly complex operational work remotely.

This role requires a strong operational leader who can combine network operations expertise, vendor and carrier management, budget discipline, resilience planning, and cross-functional partnership. The successful candidate will work closely with Network Architecture and Engineering, Project Management, Sourcing, Finance, Cybersecurity, and regional business stakeholders to ensure that global network services are stable, secure, observable, scalable, and aligned to business needs.

The Director will also serve as a member of the Infrastructure Operations leadership team and will contribute to broader global infrastructure strategies, operating model improvements, service maturity, and transformation initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Global Team Leadership & Operations: Lead, mentor, and supervise regional Network Operations managers (across North America, EMEA, and APAC), and the global delivery team in India, establishing operational consistency, clear accountability, service level standards, and high performance across distributed global teams.
  • Resiliency, Redundancy & Observability: Drive strategy and operational execution for network resiliency, redundancy, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance; assess, deploy, and leverage emerging AI/AIOps tools and telemetry platforms to enable proactive incident prevention, rapid MTTR, and robust network security.
  • Financial Oversight & Budget Management: Oversee and manage the global network operational budget, conducting continuous cost rationalization, tracking spend against forecasts, and ensuring maximum business value from all infrastructure investments.
  • Strategic Vendor & Partner Management: Forge and maintain strong strategic partnerships with hardware vendors, telecommunications carriers, and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to negotiate mutually beneficial agreements, enforce strict SLAs, and drive ongoing business value.
  • Portfolio & Delivery Alignment: Collaborate closely with Project Management, Sourcing, and Finance to oversee the network project portfolio, control capital and operational spend, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of global network initiatives.
  • Architecture & Engineering Collaboration: Work in close partnership with the Global Head of Network Architecture and Engineering to maintain strategic alignment, ensure operational viability of new technical designs, share resource capacity, and seamlessly transition architecture into production.
  • Infrastructure Operations Leadership: Join and actively participate as a key member of the Infrastructure Operations leadership team, contributing to global infrastructure strategies, cross-functional operational improvements, and company-wide technology initiatives.
  • Major Incident & Problem Management: Provide senior escalation management during critical network incidents, driving swift resolution, transparent executive stakeholder communication, and rigorous post-incident root-cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring failure modes.
  • Governance, Compliance & Security: Partner with Cyber Security (CISO) and Risk teams to enforce patch and vulnerability management, zero-trust access controls, and regulatory compliance across all regional network environments.
Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; 10+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience with at least 5+ years supervising network managers or leading regional network teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of enterprise network domains, including WAN/LAN/WLAN, SD-WAN, multi-cloud networking (AWS, GCP, Azure), BGP/MPLS, firewalls, network automation, and modern telemetry/observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, ThousandEyes, Cisco Catalyst/Meraki, Splunk, AIOps tools).
  • Leadership & Team Building: Proven track record of leading multi-national network operations and management of global offshore operational hubs (specifically in India) with a strong focus on talent development, role clarity, and operational rigor.
  • Financial & Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience managing large OPEX/CAPEX budgets, telecom contract negotiations, and vendor governance.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders across autonomous, matrixed business units.
  • Frameworks & Certifications: Strong grounding in ITIL/ITSM best practices and modern Agile delivery models. Relevant technical or management certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, ITIL v4, AWS/GCP Networking) are preferred.
Operational Demands & Work Environment

  • Global 24/7 Incident Escalations: Willingness to serve as a senior escalation point for high-severity global outages across varying time zones outside standard business hours.
  • Decentralized Business Unit Environment: Managing alignment and enforcing global operational standards across distinct Business Units that maintain significant operational autonomy.
  • Occasional Travel: Domestic and international travel (approximately 10–15%) to regional hubs, major data centers, office sites, and vendor summits.
