Job Summary:
Manage the financial operations of CHHS while supporting the strategic plan under the direction of the Dean of the College in concert with the policies and procedures of the University.
Essential Functions:
- Plans, directs and manages the business affairs of the College of Health and Human Sciences consistent with the mission, goals and expected outcomes based on a thorough knowledge of university policies and procedures as well as accounting and business principles.
- Participates in the long term strategic and financial planning and implementation and management of financial, business and administrative systems.
- Develops and maintains the college's annual budget including general revenue fund, sales and service, grant and sponsored programs.
- At the direction of the Dean, implements and manages overhead costing processes between the Dean's Office and the schools and other business units in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
- Creates and oversees the college travel and procurement processes including resource distribution and management.
- Consults and advises the Dean, associate deans and school directors on budget and financial matters relevant to college operations, business planning, auditing, and strategic planning.
- As this is a support position for the Dean that deals with confidential information, the vast majority of work must be conducted on the physical premises in the College of Health and Human Sciences' Dean's Office (Mary Gladwin Hall 101).
Education:
Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree. Master's degree in relevant field required.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
None.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years progressively responsible work experience in budget and fiscal office management, preferably in higher educational setting with extensive knowledge of fund accounting. Advanced computer skills required, Workday experience in Human Resources and Financials preferred. Prior supervisory experience required. Budget management, analytical, organizational and goal setting skills required. Strong verbal and written communications skills required. Intimate knowledge of the administrative workings of the College and The University of Akron (including policies and procedures) preferred. Experience in working directly with the Budget Office, Finance and Administration Office and the Office of Academic Affairs preferred. Incumbent should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, have effective interpersonal relationships, and be an effective team player and builder.
