Full Job Description
The Director, Enterprise Quality Engineering carries out procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements. The Director, Quality Engineering requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

The Director, Enterprise Quality Engineering - Enterprise Cross-Platform Quality Validation & Integration Engineering will lead the enterprise orchestration of cross-platform quality validation, integration assurance, and end-to-end business workflow certification. This role is accountable for ensuring critical business processes operate reliably across segments, platforms, applications, APIs, data flows, environments, and release events.

This is a technical leadership role with a hands-on expectation. The Director will be expected to understand modern engineering practices deeply, engage directly in validation strategy and technical problem-solving, review quality approaches, assess automation and monitoring patterns, and guide teams through complex integration, reliability, and production quality challenges.

The leader will leverage AI-enabled quality engineering practices to improve validation intelligence, accelerate test design, strengthen defect and risk prediction, enhance synthetic monitoring, and increase the effectiveness of enterprise release certification. This role will partner closely with Quality Engineering, Product, Engineering, Architecture, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Operations, Environment Management, and segment technology leaders to improve release confidence, production reliability, and enterprise quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead enterprise quality validation strategy for end-to-end business workflows, cross-platform integrations, and multi-segment technology initiatives.
  • Establish standards and operating models for integration assurance, release certification, automation, resiliency testing, and production quality validation.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex validation scenarios, including dependency mapping, risk-based test planning, automation strategy, test data needs, and environment readiness.
  • Partner across engineering, architecture, product, DevOps, release management, operations, cybersecurity, and platform teams to manage quality risks, resolve defects, and improve release readiness.
  • Advance automation-first and AI-enabled quality engineering practices to improve test planning, defect analysis, risk prediction, release confidence, and quality insights.
  • Own enterprise release certification, including readiness criteria, quality gates, executive reporting, risk escalation, and go/no-go recommendations.
  • Drive reliability, resiliency, synthetic monitoring, smoke testing, post-release validation, and production quality practices for critical workflows and integrations.
  • Define quality metrics, dashboards, and governance routines to provide visibility into validation progress, dependency risk, defect trends, release readiness, and production outcomes.
  • Build and develop a high-performing quality engineering team while fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • 12+ years of experience in quality engineering, software engineering, test engineering, systems integration, technology delivery, or related technical disciplines.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams or enterprise-scale quality engineering capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with enterprise transformation, platform modernization, cloud migration, or digital product delivery initiatives.
  • Familiarity with modern architectures, including microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud-native platforms, data pipelines, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with test automation, service virtualization, test data management, environment management, observability, synthetic monitoring, production validation, or operational readiness.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools, intelligent automation, quality metrics, dashboards, scorecards, or executive readiness reporting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise release governance, change management, compliance, secure software delivery, and operational risk controls.

Work-At-Home Requirements
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information


Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$156,600 - $215,400 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
