Director, Engineering Manager to lead our
Enrollment and Servicing frontend team-owning the mission critical user interfaces relied on by our financial advisor clients and our operations professionals to open and enroll in accounts and provide servicing on the same.
This is a
frontend-first leadership role. We are specifically seeking a leader deeply committed to
frontend engineering craft and user experience. The right candidate is passionate about the frontend domain and wants to advance their career and team there.
This is a
player-coach role (~40% hands-on) that will lead a multi-squad team. The ideal candidate insists on staying close to the code, product, and user experience.
This role is fundamentally about
building great product-executing against a
significant, highly commercial roadmap that directly impacts advisor productivity, client experience, and business growth.
You will partner deeply with
Product and Design, operating in
durable, embedded team structures with strong 1:1 relationships across disciplines.
You will help AssetMark build out our new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, India. You will help hire and bootstrap the next generation of front end engineers for AssetMark and build a global engineering culture based on pride of craft and partnership around purpose.
What You'll DoBuild and Ship High-Impact Product- Lead the team in delivering against a large, complex, and commercially critical product roadmap
- Own execution quality-ensuring teams ship reliably, quickly, and with high standards
- Translate product priorities into clear engineering plans, sequencing, and trade-offs
- Drive a culture of accountability for outcomes, not just output
- Continuously improve how the team delivers-balancing speed, quality, and scalability
Lead, Coach, and Build Talent- Lead and develop a multi-squad frontend engineering team, with a strong emphasis on growing junior and mid-level engineers into exceptional talent
- Establish a culture of craft excellence, mentorship, and continuous improvement
- Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing meaningfully to the codebase (~40%+)
- Hire and retain engineers who care deeply about UX, performance, and code quality
- Build out our Global Capability Center in Hyderabad
Champion the Frontend Craft- Champion frontend patterns (component-driven design, declarative approaches, state management discipline)
- Shape how we leverage AI-assisted development in all aspects of the SDLC
- Drive consistency in design systems, UI frameworks, and shared components
- Ensure high standards for performance, accessibility, and usability
- Partner with platform teams on BFF integration patterns, while maintaining clear frontend ownership boundaries
Build Exceptional User Experiences- Lead teams building intuitive, performant, and elegant applications for advisors and investors
- Raise the bar on interaction design, responsiveness, and perceived performance
- Ensure tight alignment between design intent and engineering execution
- Push teams to think beyond features-to end-to-end experience quality
Partner Deeply with Product & Design- Operate in tight, durable partnerships with Product and Design leaders embedded in your teams
- Contribute to product strategy with a strong point of view on what great experiences look like
- Translate ambiguous product goals into clear technical direction and execution plans
- Foster a culture of shared ownership across Engineering, Product, and Design
Drive Execution Across Multiple Squads- Own delivery across a portfolio of frontend teams, balancing speed, quality, and sustainability
- Establish clear engineering standards, patterns, and ways of working
- Guide teams through complex cross-application workflows and shared dependencies
- Lead through ambiguity while maintaining high velocity and high standards
What You BringFrontend Leadership & Craft- Deep expertise in modern frontend development (React, TypeScript, mobile frameworks, etc.)
- Strong point of view on UI patterns, state management, and performance optimization
- Passion for design systems, usability, and interaction quality
- You care not just about what you build-but how it feels to the user
People Leadership & Talent Development- Proven ability to develop junior and mid-level engineers into high performers
- Experience leading multi-team / multi-squad teams

Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- ~10-15+ years of software engineering experience, primarily in frontend development
- Experience leading frontend teams in high-scale, product-driven environments
- Experience in fintech or regulated industries is a plus

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $206,000-$258,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
