This role requires deep analytical expertise, proficiency in Excel and SQL, and significant experience working with energy market data, commodity pricing, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Conduct commercial due diligence on energy companies (and their products / services), assessing market size (TAM/SAM/SOM), growth potential, commercial outlook, competitive positioning, analysis of growth tailwinds/headwinds, right to win, and business strategy.
  • Analyze supply/demand fundamentals, power pricing, capacity markets, offtake structures, and resource adequacy to support investment decisions.
  • Assess federal and state policy, regulatory, and market developments and assess their implications for our clients' energy investment theses.
  • Synthesize findings into clear, board-ready, data-driven reports and investment recommendations.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for investors, portfolio companies, lenders, and energy stakeholders to inform strategic and capital allocation decisions.
  • Mentor and manage junior team members, overseeing analytical workstreams and quality of deliverables.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial due diligence with a focus or, at a minimum, meaningful exposure to the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with energy markets, including power, renewables, midstream, upstream, and emerging clean energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex engagements and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to C-suite and investment committee audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA) strongly preferred.
